Chapter 7
“Okay, that meeting was crazy!” Breanna said and then
sighed. Kaylee nodded.
“When he threated Lexi, that was nuts! I was terrified!” she
cried.
Yeah, tell me about it, thought Thaddeus. Bridgett
turned to Lexi, looking curious.
“Why did you do
that?”
Lexi sighed.
“I don’t know. It was just bugging me what he was saying and
then I did something impulsive and once I did it, I highly regretted it. It was
really scary,”
Thaddeus nodded.
“I mainly just
want to know what that was.” Just then, everybody’s phones went off with a text
from the group chat with the fangirls, Thaddeus and their Auradonion friends on
it.
They took Yen Sid to the hospital and they said he was
under a mind control spell. He says he’s very sorry for what he said and that
he would like to talk to you all on Saturday. . . what do you guys think?
“Oh, that’s what that was wrong. But, mind control? Who was
doing that?” Gabrielle wondered.
“Maybe he knows. If he does, I guess we’ll find out.” Lexi
said and they made plans to be in the Auradon City Hospital that Saturday.
That weekend, they traveled to Auradon VIA portal and walked
to the hospital where Yen Sid was and someone directed them to his room. Once
they got there, he smiled up at all of them.
“Hello, dear young ones! First, I just wanted to apologize
to you,” he said, gesturing to Lexi. Lexi chuckled.
“It’s okay, you weren’t in control of your actions,”
Thaddeus was once again amazed at Lexi for her ability to
forgive so quickly.
“How are you feeling?” Thaddeus asked. “Also, you are my
idol.” Yen Sid chuckled and looked surprised.
“You know about me? Mal and Ben said you were from a
different dimension.” Breanna nodded.
“There’s a mov- a documentary about you. You were also in
some books that we like.” she explained and Yen Sid nodded.
“How curious. Well, I’m feeling better. A mind control spell
is hard to heal from.” He told them. Kaylee looked at him.
“Um, just a quick question. When you were under mind
control, was there anyone in there that you felt like you trusted?”
Yen Sid looked like he was thinking about it.
“Well, all I can think of is Hadie, the son of Hades.” He
explained as gently as he could. That sent the girls into a tizzy.
“What? You mean Mal’s little brother?” Bridgett said,
sounding so sad, probably for Mal. Yen Sid looked depressed as well.
“I know. I don’t like it either! He was one of my most loyal
pupils, but really. He was the only that I trusted while I was under the
spell.”
“Oh, this is bad.” Gabrielle sighed sadly as Breanna pulled
her into a hug.
“I really don’t look forward to telling Mal,” Lexi moaned as
she ran her hand through her hair. After they spoke a little more about it,
they all got ready to go and Thaddeus was just about to head out with the
girls, when Yen Sid caught his hand to stop him. Thaddeus gasped.
“So, you are quite taken with that girl, aren’t you?” Yen
Sid asked, nodding toward Lexi. Thaddeus’s cheeks flushed a deep school apple
red.
“That’s silly.” He muttered. Yen Sid chuckled gruffly.
“No. I see the way you look at her. And the way that jumped
right up to protect her at the meeting,” Yen Sid argued. Thaddeus could see
that Yen Sid was trying to worm an answer out of him, so he obliged.
“Yes, I like her. And I have ever since I met her.” Thaddeus
whispered.
“Yes, indeed. What was her name again?” Yen Sid said. Thaddeus
smiled.
“Alexa. But everyone calls her Lexi.” He explained. Yen Sid
nodded.
“So, do you plan to court her and then sweep her off her
feet?” he wondered, smiling at the thought. Thaddeus frowned, being brought
back to the memory.
“I wish.” He sighed. Yen Sid raised his eyebrows.
“You wish?”
Thaddeus nodded and the told him the story of how everything
went down. Yen Sid gave Thaddeus a sad smile, a pained expression in his eyes.
“How long have you known her?”
“About six years.” Yen Sid gave Thaddeus a real grin this
time.
“Who knows? She may change her mind about Adam,” he said
hopefully. Thaddeus gave Yen Sid a depressed smile.
“Thanks, but I doubt it. Uh, goodbye, it was great finally
meeting you.” He said as he ambled out of the door and Yen Sid called after
him,
“Good luck, Thaddeus!”
After their visit with Yen Sid, the fangirls and Thaddeus
headed over to Mal and Ben’s castle to talk to them about what Yen Sid told
them. Lexi came up and knocked three times on the big wooden doors. “I really
don’t look forward to telling them. They’re not gonna handle it well,” sighed
Lexi as she brushed her bangs out of her eyes. Not long after, Lumiere answered
the door and said Mal and Ben were in their office. They nodded, said thank
you, and climbed the many stairs to that office.
“Hey! How was it with Yen Sid?” Ben asked. Bridgett winced.
Mal came over and just looked at them.
“What happened?” she wondered. Lexi sighed and explained the
whole thing. Mal jumped out of where had just been sitting. “What?! No, he
would never do anything like that!”
Ben came over to her and enveloped her in his arms to
mollify her.
“I’m so sorry. Really, we don’t want to believe it either,”
Kaylee apologized. Mal nodded.
“I still don’t believe he would do anything like this.” Mal
disagreed. Ben leaned down and kissed her forehead.
“Maybe we should just talk to him,” Ben suggested and
everyone agreed. He always knew the right thing to say at a bad time.
The next Wednesday afternoon, they called a meeting with
Hadie and when he showed up, everyone gave each other concerned looks. Mal
stood up and glanced over to her little brother. “Look, Hadie, I’m not gonna
beat around the bush. Did you put Yen Sid under a mind control spell?”
Hadie’s eyes widened.
“What?! No! I would never do that to him!” he exclaimed. Mal
gritted her teeth.
“Yen Sid said when he was under the spell, you were the only
he trusted. Are you sure you didn’t do anything?”
Hadie shook his head, looking insulted and hurt that they
didn’t believe him.
“Yes!” he shouted. Mal sighed and nodded.
“Okay, I believe you. You can go now.” Hadie stormed out of
the council room in a huff, leaving all of the people behind to think how badly
that had gone.
The next day at school as the fangirls and Thaddeus walked
out of P.E, talking about how they got clobbered in their dodge ball game, when
Lexi saw Adam walking out of his history class. She waved. “Hey!” she said
happily. Adam grinned.
“Hey Lex! How are you?” he asked her.
“Oh, well we just got destroyed in dodge ball,” Lexi
explained. Adam chuckled.
“You’ll have that,”
Lexi beamed.
“Hey, do you want to hang out after school?” she asked. Adam
winced.
“Oh, wish I could, but my parents are going on a date this
evening and I have to watch my sister.” He sighed.
“Oh, okay. Maybe another time,” Lexi said wistfully. Adam
gave her one last smile and then walked away. Later, as Lexi was getting her
homework done at home, her phone went off. Thinking it might be Adam saying
something cute, she picked it up eagerly. But found it was not that. Ben had
texted the group chat.
Come quickly everyone! Mal and I’s castle is on fire and
it’s destructing by the minute! Lexi got up from the couch, hastily told
her mother where she was going, and teleported off to Auradon. As soon as she
got there, she saw the grand castle burning and the Auradon firefighters trying
to put it out. She also saw some of her other friends there.
“What happened?” Lexi cried as she ran over to Mal and Ben
were standing, with Evie, Doug, Jay, Thaddeus, Breanna, and Gabrielle were also
standing.
“We were on a double-date with Evie and Doug and we came
home and this happened!” Ben said, sounding shocked and scared all at once.
Just as the other fangirls arrived and they filled them in, they saw hooded
figure walking out of the rubble. Mal and Ben stepped forward and removed the
cloak and were shocked to see a familiar face. Yen Sid.
