Chapter 4 of Fangirls book two rewrite!!!!!:D:D
Chapter 4
That Saturday, the fangirls went
shopping for their homecoming dresses. Breanna went and asked her crush, Henry
Garrison, to homecoming and he had said yes, sounding excited, which gave
Breanna a great thrill. Then a boy named Peter asked Kaylee out and she had
said yes to that. He was into art, like she was. And then Bridgett had been
asked by a boy named Spencer who was from the social dance class, so Bridgett
was pretty excited about that. Gabrielle decided to wait until she was fifteen
to ask her crush (she knew she couldn’t wait for him to ask her because there
was no guarantee that he would,) to go with her. Anyway, after they got their
dresses and after that, they went to Starbucks to get some strawberry
Frappuccino’s and some cake pops. As they sat down at their table, Lexi began
to giggle. “Okay,” she said as she grabbed her straw and opened the wrapper.
“I’m rekindling my old fangirl and doing King Ben for the straw wrapper!”
Now, you’re probably wondering what
Lexi’s talking about. When you get a straw wrapper, you can do something fun,
where you think of someone you have a crush on and then you pull it into
something that resembles a breast cancer ribbon. Then, you take one end and
pull it through the hole and if it ends in a knot, the person you thought of is
“knot” thinking of you. But if doesn’t end in a knot, the person is thinking of
you. So, Lexi did the thing and, it ended in knot. Lexi feigned being mad and
heaved a dramatic sigh. “You’re married, fine!” she joked. Then, her phone
started ringing and she knew instantly who it was because she set Ben’s ring
tone on her phone to “Did I Mention” and Lexi jumped back. “Aah! He heard me!
Okay. . .” she gasped as she picked up the phone and answered it.
“Hello?” Lexi said, still sounding a
little bit startled.
“Hi, why do you sound so rattled?” Ben
wondered. Lexi shook it off.
“Uh, no reason. What’s up?” she asked.
She could hear Ben chuckle from the other end.
“Well, we were wondering if you guys
could come to Auradon? We have some news that we have to share in person,” Ben
explained. Lexi raised her eyebrows and looked around at the other fangirls.
“Um, yeah, just let us ask our parents
first,” Lexi told him.
“See, you’re responsible. I like
that,” Ben praised. Lexi blushed.
“Thanks! We’ll see you in few
minutes.” Lexi looked around at the girls again. “Do you guys think that was
what I think that was?” Breanna nodded.
“Oh, definitely,” she agreed as the
others nodded.
“Yay!” Gabrielle squealed.
After they got the okay from their
parents and texted Thaddeus to meet them in Auradon, they went to their usual
meeting place. “So, what is it?” asked Bridgett curiously and sounding very
excited to find out what the news was. Mal and Ben shared a smile so romantic
that the fangirls actually swooned which made Thaddeus chuckle. He was doing
alright considering Adam just asked the girl of his dreams to homecoming.
“I’m pregnant.” Mal told them with a
smile. The fangirls screamed and squealed and so did Evie. She came and gave
Mal a big hug as she started crying and Jay came up and fist bumped Ben and
Thaddeus told them that he was very happy for them.
“It is about time!” Lexi exclaimed,
sounding just a bit exasperated. Ben laughed.
“What do you mean by that?” Ben
chuckled. Lexi shrugged.
“Well, you have been married
for five years and-
Breanna cut her off and put her arm
around Lexi’s shoulders.
“Stop talking.” Breanna advised. Lexi
nodded.
“Good idea,” she agreed. The fangirls
and Evie, of course, had just started asking Mal how she was feeling, when the
ground started shaking beneath them. Ben pulled Mal close to him because he was
feeling protective of her now more than usual and the fangirls and Thaddeus
started moving closer together. Once the rumbling had subsided, Ben turned to
Mal.
“Are you okay?” he inquired. Mal
nodded.
“Yes. Another earthquake! That makes
ten this month!” she said confusedly. The fangirls and Thaddeus all gasped in
unison and exchanged scared looks. Ben looked very worried then.
“Oh, no, that’s not good. Why are you
gasping like that?” Ben sighed, sounding concerned. Kaylee winced.
“You don’t think that this has
anything to do with the Catacombs of Doom, do you?” she wondered, sounding
scared. Mal and Ben sighed.
“Well, yes, but we’re confused because
the last time this happened, it was because of the barrier and there’s no
barrier anymore, so we just don’t know. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that
you know what Catacombs of Doom are because that wasn’t in the documentaries.”
Mal sighed. Thaddeus pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose because they
were falling down.
“They wrote books too, you know. In
Return to the Isle of the Lost, the second one, there were a lot of earthquakes
and we find out that the barrier was the cause and the Catacombs of Doom played
a part.” Thaddeus explained thoroughly. Lexi looked at him in amazement.
“You read the books too? The second
one was my favorite!” Lexi smiled. Thaddeus smiled back at her.
“I don’t know, the third one was
pretty great,” Thaddeus said back. Lexi and Thaddeus shared a chuckle and
everyone around them looked at each other with knowing smiles. Breanna laughed.
“Guys!” she giggled and pointed back
to Mal and Ben. Lexi nodded and looked at her feet.
“Right,” she said, sounding a bit
embarrassed. Ben turned to the fangirls as he took Mal’s hand.
“Would we be able to borrow one of
your copies of that book?” he asked kindly. Lexi nodded.
“Done. It would be an honor to loan
you that book.” Lexi said honestly, making Ben laugh as she so often did.
Bridgett made a face.
“Hey, how come you get to do it?” she
pouted jokingly. Lexi matched Bridgett’s expression.
“You let them borrow the movies,” she argued,
not at all being able to keep a straight face.
Bridgett scrunched her nose and everyone
started laughing then but Mal hesitated. Because she also remembered who
helped with that cause. Mad Maddy. She couldn’t help it and she didn’t
want to admit it, but she was still rattled by that nightmare. She knew that it
was only a dream, though, no matter how real it felt. Only seeing is how there
was no barrier, some perpetrator was causing all of the drama.
“Maybe, Ben and I should study that
book and once we’re done, we’ll let you know.” Mal suggested and they agreed
just as a massive bolt of lightning shot down from the sky and narrowly missed
Mal and Ben. Thaddeus screamed as he ducked and covered, his hands against his
ears and went into a massive anxiety attack. He still had some post-traumatic
stress disorder from when he got struck by lightning when he was only twelve.
Lexi hurried over to Thaddeus before anyone else could and put a hand on his
shoulder.
“Are you okay?” Lexi asked him,
sounding so concerned, that Thaddeus looked up for just a moment to only slightly
returned to his refuge inside his legs. He nodded, but he really did NOT look
okay. Lexi moved her arm to be around his shoulders and told him that
everything was okay and that they could move when he felt like it. Once again,
everyone exchanged knowing looks.
When they were all back inside Mal and
Ben’s castle with some hot chocolate, they began discussing. “Okay,” Ben said
as he put his mug on the coffee table. “So, I think that Mal and I should study
the book and see if we notice anything that will be helpful and then maybe one
day every week you guys should come here and we can discuss things, sort of
like a council meeting. We’ll also discuss this with the council also and see
if they notice things too, but that’s just kind of me thinking. How does that
sound?” Heads nodded all around the room and Lexi felt her heart beat faster as
they were about to save Auradon from evil’s clutches, yet again.
