The Fanbulance Sketch!!!!!!! Warning! Do not read this unless you have read The Hunger Games and Fablehaven :)
The Fanbulance sketch By Bella Simmons, (famously known for
being a Fangirl and writing about them lol:)
Once upon a Summer’s late afternoon, Ellie Snow was up in
her room sitting on her bed reading a series she had never read before. It was
named Fablehaven. And she was on book four. She really enjoying it! She really
loved Gavin. She desperately wanted Kendra and Gavin to end up together! But
she was reading something about Gavin turning into a, dragon? “It must be some
cool power or something,” she muttered and read on. But she read something else
about him eating Dougan and shoving Mara off the cliff and trying to kill
Kendra! She gasped. Did the new power mess up his memories? She kept reading
on. But as the chapter ended, it didn’t get resolved. Putting the bookmark back
in the well-worn book, she couldn’t believe that Gavin was the antagonist. As
she replaced the book on her bookshelf, she began to sob bitterly as she
slipped down the shelf. She was so bitterly depressed and she angry as well. At
Brandon Mull, to be specific. But she had a sudden idea. All of her bookworm
friends had told her to call this number if she was struggling with books. She
grabbed her phone and dialed the phone number. 246. She quickly heard a voice
at the other end.
“246 what’s your emergency?” A calm female voice answered.
“MY FANDOM HAS CRACKED! THERE WAS A SHIPWREK!!!” she sobbed.
“Please state your name and your fandom and you will be
connected immediately,” she said.
“My names Ellie Snow of the Fablehaven Fandom!” she wailed.
Just then she heard another voice on the other side.
“This is the Fospital, what’s your Fandom emergency?” a
pleasant female voice said.
“MY NAME IS ELLIE SNOW OF THE FABLEHAVEN FANDOM AND MY
FAVORITE CHARICTER TURNED TO BE THE ANTAGONIST!!!” Ellie wept. An edge of
sympathy crept into the lady’s voice.
“We’ll send someone for you immediately!” she said
importantly. Not five seconds later, Ellie heard pounding on her door. She
opened it and the man that was there fireman carried her out of her bedroom. He
carried her into her front yard where something that resembled an ambulance
except it said “Fanbulance” on the side and it was decorated with scenes from
books was waiting. He put her gently on the gurney and rolled her into the
Fanbulance. Tears wouldn’t stop pouring down Ellie’s cheeks as they drove
insanely fast down the road and pulled into a parking lot and the man trolled
the gurney into a big building with big letters on the roof that read “FT. LAUDERDALE
FOSPITAL”. They wheeled into the big building and turned to the left into a
place with some more big letters that read “THE SMADNESS WARD” and he took
Ellie inside the room. The man then lifted her off the gurney and placed her
gently on the bed. He gave her a small smile before he left. Ellie heard
something from the next bed over. A girl was screaming and crying about
somebody named Finnick. And then somebody named Suzanne Collins. At least,
that’s what she thought. The girl was pretty incoherent. Then, a few people
that looked like nurses came and lifted the girl onto a gurney and one of them
said in an urgent sort of voice, “Someone prep an OR on the Mockingjay floor!
She needs surgery, quick!” Ellie’s eyes widened. What sort of surgery did they
do here? Another nurse came in and came over to her.
“Ellie Snow?” she asked. Ellie nodded. “I’m Nurse Hinckley.
You’re of the Fablehaven Fandom?” she asked. Ellie nodded again. “Alright!” she
said and lifted Ellie onto a gurney and rolled Ellie out of the room. She
crossed out of the smadness ward and stalked over to the elevator and stepped
in. She crossed over to the panel with so many buttons (there even some on
ceiling!) and pushed a button with white letters on it that said “FB4”. After
about a minute, the elevator stopped and opened and Ellie was wheeled down a
lavender hallway, like the cover of Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary. Nurse
Hinckley opened a door into a light green and lavender room and scooped her up
and placed her on another bed with a green pillow and lavender coverings. “It
will all alright,” she said as she walked out with an empty gurney. Ellie sat
with her face in her knees, still sobbing like mad. She just couldn’t believe
it. Brandon Mull had made them like Gavin, just to make him the villain.
The letter at the end of Grip of the Shadow Plague, his smoothness and
kindness. It was all just a big lie. Just then, a woman in lavender scrubs
minced into the room. Ellie jumped and gasped.
“Oh, no need to be alarmed, Ellie. I’m Dr Sorenson.” She
said.
“Sorenson?” Ellie repeated. “Like from Fablehaven?” Dr
Sorenson chuckled mildly.
“Well, I guess so. That’s what led me to reading the series.
Are you okay? I heard you had some trouble with chapter 26,” she said gently.
“No!” Ellie sobbed.
“Just let it all out,” Dr Sorenson said.
“How could Brandon Mull do this?!” Ellie cried. “I wish I
could punch him in the face!” Dr Sorenson nodded.
“I remember feeling the exact same way,” she whispered.
“You had trouble with this too?” Ellie sniffled. Dr Sorenson
nodded again and handed her a Twix chocolate bar. Ellie gasped as she grabbed
it.
“How did you know my favorite candy bar?” Ellie asked.
“It’s in your file. We have a file for every fangirl and
fanboy. It says their name, their age, their fandom, what book they’re in and
their favorite chocolate bar,” she explained.
“Fanboys exist?” Ellie asked.
“Yes. But they are commonly known as nerds or geeks,” she told
her.
“Oh.” Ellie replied. Dr Sorenson nodded.
“That was a lesson I learned the hard way.” she muttered.
“What is this place?” Ellie asked.
“The Fospital. It’s for fandom boys and girls who are
struggling with books. There’s a floor for each fandom and each book in the
fandom. The Keeper of the Lost Cities floor is quite large and the Mockingjay
floor has frequent visitors. In the summer, this place is hopping because you
have more time to read. To the muggle eye, this place just looks like a rehab
center,” Dr Sorenson explained.
“What sort of surgeries do you do here?” Ellie inquired.
“How did you know we do surgeries?” Ellie explained how she
knew.
“Oh, well she was struggling very deeply because the
character she was talking about was much beloved in that fandom. We only do
surgeries in extreme cases and only a few of the floors have operating rooms.
We do surgery the same reason regular hospitals do them. To help you heal
faster,” the Dr told her.
“Will I ever be able to heal from this?” Ellie asked. Dr
Sorenson nodded.
“Yes. But only because there is a special surprise in
chapter eight of the next book,”
“Really?! Is there another boy?” Ellie asked excitedly.
“Read it and find out,” the Dr commanded. Ellie nodded.
“Okay!”
“But I don’t want you finishing the fourth book today. You
have to wait until tomorrow. You might not do very well with the ending,” she
instructed.
“Should I be very afraid?” Ellie asked tremulously.
“I can neither confirm nor deny that.” the Dr said. Ellie
nodded. The Dr told her that she was free to go but she needed to come back in
a week for a follow up appointment and to come back if there was any problem. The
Fanbulance delivered her home but not before Dr Sorenson handed her some more
of her favorite candy bars and wished her good luck on the last two chapters of
the book. And now Ellie knew what to do in case of a cracking fandom or a shipwreck.
(And by the way, she was very pleased with the ship in the next book ;)
