Chapter 18, Lexi’s news

Breanna and Henry’s wedding reception was held in a local in community center which they made look stunning with decorations and magic. Breanna and Henry’s cake was chocolate brown with little frosting roses like the ones in Breanna’s wedding bouquet. It had a it had a chocolate mousse on the inside, so that was going to be delicious! They all walked into that room and it was beautiful! Fake roses on the fake wisteria that hung all around the walls, there was a dance floor, a food table laden with lots and lots of different foods. Of course, Breanna and Henry went to right to the food. Later, they were swing dancing on the dance floor (Henry had taken the social dance class too and was pretty good at it.) Thaddeus and Lexi looked at each other and nodded. They went right out to the dance floor and did swing dancing (of course) as well and danced the early evening away.

Later, Thaddeus and Lexi stepped off the dance floor because it was very, very tiring and sat down at a table to rest. Not five minutes after they sat down, Lexi fell asleep in her chair. Thaddeus found this a little bit weird. She normally didn’t get that tired after dancing. After a couple of minutes, (Thaddeus hadn’t wanted to wake her too soon.) he shook her awake. “Hey,” he said softly.

“Hey,” she said back, stretching her arms above her head.

“Are you really that tired?” Thaddeus wondered. Lexi shrugged.

“I guess so,” she said as her eyes glanced down quickly to her stomach.

“Would you like something to eat?” Thaddeus asked. Lexi nodded. Thaddeus smiled.

“I’ll try and find some lima beans,” Thaddeus said sweetly. Lexi smiled at him. Thaddeus headed over to the food table and luckily found some lima beans. He knew they were Lexi’s favorite. He snatched a fork and headed on back to the table. He handed her the plate.

“You are my hero,” Lexi said in admiration. Thaddeus chuckled.

“Well, thank you,” he said as Lexi brought the first bite to her mouth. But before she actually put it into her mouth, she gagged and jumped up from her seat and ran to the bathroom. Thaddeus sprang from his seat and chased after her. Lexi ran through the door and bolted to an empty stall. Thaddeus found her in that stall, retching. Thaddeus ignored his shock for a moment and just sat and rubbed her back soothingly. Lexi finally lifted her head back up, scrubbing her sweaty brow. Thaddeus looked at her in concern.

“Are you alright?” he asked as he pulled her closer. Lexi sighed.

“I had planned to tell you tonight, but I’m pregnant,” Lexi explained to him. Thaddeus’s jaw hit the floor and for moment, he couldn’t even speak! He laughed in excitement. Lexi smiled, suddenly feeling a lot less stressed about it now that she told someone. Not that she wasn’t overjoyed when she found out that she was going to have a baby, but it had been tugging at her mind all day and it had been hard to keep the secret.

“That’s amazing!” he finally exclaimed as he embraced her. Lexi laughed as she felt so excited about it. “When did you find out?” Thaddeus asked her.

“This morning,” Lexi told him, blushing bright red.

“Why didn’t you tell me then?” Thaddeus wondered.

“I didn’t want to take away from Breanna’s special day,” Lexi explained. Thaddeus nodded in understanding. Then he embraced her again.

“I’m so happy!” Thaddeus cheered.

“Me too!” Lexi squealed. Thaddeus and Lexi walked out of the bathroom stall and Lexi rinsed her mouth out and wiped her lips with a wet paper towel. Then they headed back to the reception as if nothing happened. Only now Thaddeus and Lexi couldn’t stop smiling. They arrived back to Breanna dancing with her dad. “Oh, we arrived just in time,” Lexi observed. Bridgett, Kaylee and Gabrielle looked at Thaddeus and Lexi confusedly.

“What’s going on with you two?” Kaylee asked. Lexi shook her head.

“Oh, we’re great,” Lexi said. Bridgett nodded.

“I can see that. What’s so great?” she inquired.

“We’ll tell you later,” Thaddeus whispered as Breanna’s dance with her dad ended. Then, she did the first dance with Henry, even though they had danced already. Then it was time for that wonderful cake and Breanna and Henry shoved it into each other’s faces. Breanna coughed because some of it got up her nose. Then they got changed into some other clothes and ran out as everyone blew bubbles and wished them well. Later, as Lexi and Thaddeus got into bed, Lexi called her mom and dad on a video chat so she could see their faces when she told them.

“Hi Lexi!” her mom said. “And Thaddeus! I know that guy!” she joked. Thaddeus chuckled.

“What’s up?” her dad asked. Lexi smiled.

“We have news,” Lexi told them.

“What news?” her dad asked.

“You two are going to have new grandbaby!” Lexi exclaimed. Her mom squealed and her dad smiled.

“Yay!!” her mom cheered as she started crying.

“Congratulations, you two!” her dad said happily as he put his arm around Lexi’s mom’s shoulders. Soon after that, they said congratulations once more and said goodnight. Lexi and Thaddeus were very tired from the day, so they went to sleep. Once they did, they had very happy dreams filled with an ever-growing family.
