Chapter 13 of Fangirls, book three!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D

Chapter 13, Almost there

Soon after Lexi fell asleep, Thaddeus found that he was really tired too and was knocked out in the chair that was next to Lexi’s hospital bed. Lexi however, was not having sweet dreams as Thaddeus predicted she would. She had nightmares full of drowning, getting poisoned, and the tube. The tube was fast, unpredictable, dangerous and full all things she was afraid of. She could still see those images that the tube showed her and put in her brain to torment her forever. She came around to Thaddeus shaking her awake. “Hey,” he said to her softly. “Are you alright?”. Lexi shook her head. “What’s wrong?” Thaddeus asked her in concern.

“When Karen and Adam launched me out of where they were keeping me, they put me in this tube and this tube showed me images of all of my insecurities and worst fears and I saw that again in my dream,” Lexi explained softly, her voice trembling. Thaddeus glared.

“Why are they the most sick and sadistic people I’ve ever met?” Thaddeus grumbled. Then he looked back up at Lexi. “I’m so sorry,”
“They were so real,” Lexi whispered. Thaddeus wrapped his arms around Lexi and pulled her closer.

“I know. But I won’t let anything hurt you. You’re safe now,” Thaddeus whispered consolingly. Then he slipped off his shoes, climbed into her hospital bed, and held her in his arms.

“If you feel like it, you can go back to sleep. If not, we can just talk,” Lexi gave him a sad smile and leaned her head against his chest and soon, fell asleep. This time, she didn’t have any nightmares at all.

After the nurse came in and told Thaddeus visiting hours were over, he kissed Lexi’s forehead and told her he would see her tomorrow. After the two days were over, Lexi was dispatched and she got to go home on the eleventh of February. As you read before, the wedding would be held on the sixteenth of February. Lexi’s parents had told everyone that on the day of the wedding Lexi came down with a fever so no one would start to worry about the real reason. Lexi and Thaddeus waited anxiously for the big day, but Lexi kept on having nightmares. Thaddeus and Lexi and the fangirls looked up some ways to get better sleep. One of them was reading books before bed, so they started video calling before going to bed and they did book club. That definitely helped her. On February 15th, they finished reading the whole Isle of the Lost series. (And yes, that was Lexi’s idea :) But they didn’t read it all in one night, of course. The next morning, it was kind of overcast as Lexi, her sisters, her mom, the fangirls, and Thaddeus’s sisters Hailey and Hadley were all getting ready in a wing of Mal and Ben’s palace. Her makeup was light lavender shimmery eyeshadow, black mascara, just a touch of pink blush, black eye liner, and a peachy lipstick. Her hair was in long flowy ringlets with some of her hair being pinned back all the way around her head from both sides. Her dress was creamy white with sleeves covering her shoulders and a poufy skirt that she had to hold up when she walked. Her shoes were vintage lavender heels with a wide heel. Hailey smiled at Lexi. “You look gorgeous!” she said in admiration. “I can only imagine what Thaddeus’s face will be when he sees you!”. Lexi smiled and gave Hailey a big hug. Hailey had been a fan of Lexi right from the start and she had basically been like another older sister. Lexi’s mom teared up when Lexi looked at her reflection in the big mirror.

“Mom, stop it! You’re going to make me cry!” Lexi said as she embraced her mom. Just as they all went in for a group hug, there was a knock at the door. Breanna opened it a crack and saw Thaddeus. Thaddeus was wearing a grey suit and a dark green tie. His hair in its usual wavy style.

“Just one second,” Breanna whispered and closed the door again. “It’s yours truly,” she said in a teasing tone to Lexi.

“Don’t open the door! It’s bad luck,” Cristy, Lexi’s older sister, commanded. Breanna shrugged.

“I’m gonna open the door,” she said as she turned the knob and Thaddeus walked in.

“I’m sorry, I know it’s bad luck to see the bride in her wedding dress before the wedding, but I just had to see you,” he said just as Lexi stepped out from where her sisters were blocking her from view. Thaddeus’s jaw dropped and he tried to remember how to inhale properly. She just never ceases to amaze me, Thaddeus thought. “Wow! You look exquisite! Words can’t even describe how beautiful you are!” Thaddeus gasped in amazement. Lexi smiled and flushed a deep magenta.

“Thank you,” she sighed happily.

“I think we’ll leave you two alone,” Josie, Lexi’s other older sister, said, nodding and walking everybody out.

“You look handsome,” Lexi said in a flirtatious sort of voice. Thaddeus chuckled and motioned for her and him to sit together on the small fancy couch. Thaddeus and Lexi sat down and Thaddeus put his arm around her shoulders and kissed her forehead. “I would kiss you, but I don’t want to get lipstick on you before the ceremony,” Lexi giggled. “If Evie finds out you saw me before the ceremony, I think she’ll actually kill us,”. Thaddeus snorted.

“You know, you’re not wrong,” Thaddeus laughed. After that, they just sat together in silence. Or they did before they heard a noise from outside. A really loud BOOM. They saw a bolt of lightning and heard the thunder. Thaddeus gasped and tensed as he pulled Lexi closer like he was protecting her. Lexi looked up at him, concerned.

“Hey, it can’t get you in here. There’s a lightning rod, probably. Thank you, Benjamin Franklin,” Lexi joked lightly. Very lightly. Thaddeus nodded, but he didn’t look like he was alright. He looked downright terrified. He took some deep breaths and Lexi squeezed his hand consolingly. There was another knock at the door.

“It’s time,” Lexi’s mom said to them. Thaddeus suddenly stood up.

“I need a minute,” Thaddeus in a panic as he speed-walked out of the room. Lexi’s mom looked at Lexi.

“It’s okay. I’ll go get him,” Lexi told her mom and grabbed her skirt in her fists and hastily walked out of the room to find him. She speed-walked down the hallway and looked in all of the rooms in the hallway but he wasn’t in any of them. She walked down the flight of stairs and that’s where she found him, his head in between his knees, fighting a nasty flashback. Thaddeus suddenly looked up, noticing Lexi standing over him.

“No, Lexi, I’m okay, I just need a minute!” he said very fast and in a panic. Lexi shrugged.

“What? I’m just following my dream,” Lexi said, making Thaddeus blush bright tomato red. Lexi sighed and sat down next to Thaddeus and put her hand on his knee. “What’s going on?” she asked Thaddeus sympathetically. Thaddeus shook his head.

“It’s going to sound silly,” Thaddeus told her. Lexi smiled at him.

“I love silly,” she said, trying to get him to tell her what was on his mind.

“Okay. I just don’t want it to ruin everything,” Thaddeus said softly. Lexi looked confused.

“What would ruin everything?” she asked.

“The lightning,” Thaddeus said slowly. “I finally have everything I’ve ever wanted. I graduated high school with honors, I went on a service trip, I’m about to marry the girl of my dreams that I’ve had a crush on since the fifth grade! I just don’t want all of that to get ruined,”. Lexi put a hand to her chest and exhaled sadly.

“Oh, Thaddeus, I’m so sorry!” she exclaimed softly. “What didn’t you tell me?”

“I didn’t want to worry you with this. Especially with everything you just went through,” Thaddeus told her. Lexi smiled sadly at him.

“Sweetheart, you can tell me anything. You can lay all of your burdens on me. And, if that lightning wants you, it’ll have to go through me first,” Lexi said as she layed her head on his shoulder.

“That is really brave,” Thaddeus said in admiration. Lexi smiled.

“Plus, even if the lightning does get you, like most of the bride’s maids in there plus the bride have magic, so we could zap you back anytime,”

“How did I get so lucky to get you as my girlfriend?” Thaddeus said before he kissed her forehead. Lexi smiled at him.

“You were being a perfect gentleman,” Lexi told him, smiling. “And I’m almost your wife,”

“Another reason why I’m so lucky,” Thaddeus told her as he slung an arm around her shoulders. After a minute or so, Lexi stood up and held out a hand to Thaddeus.

“Are you ready for this?” Lexi asked as Thaddeus stood up as well.

“I’m definitely ready for this,” Thaddeus said as they started walking back up the stairs to where Lexi’s mother was.

“We’re ready,” Lexi said to her. As they started walking out of the door, Lexi’s mom pulled her aside.

“How did you do that?” she inquired. Lexi smiled.

“I have a way with words,” she said as they walked out of door to the wedding that we have all been waiting for forever.
