Chapter 12, It’s all good

The rest of the group didn’t quite know what to do. That is except for Breanna and Lexi’s parents. Lexi’s parents took him in their arms and Breanna rubbed his back in a comforting manner. “It’s alright, Thaddeus,” Lexi’s mom whispered. “The doctors going to figure out what’s wrong,” Thaddeus took a shaky breath and sniffled.

 “That was really impressive what you did today,” Lexi’s dad told him in admiration. “I didn’t even know you could do that,” Thaddeus let out a damaged chuckle.

“Neither did she,” Thaddeus sniffled. Breanna nodded.

“Yeah, she was REALLY impressed as well,” Breanna informed him. After that, they all found some benches to wait on until they heard further news. Thaddeus had his head in between his knees, a little bit calmer, but still sobbing. Everyone else was still panicking about it as well, but trying to seem calm for Thaddeus’s sake. Mal had apologized and said she didn’t do anything to make it dangerous to drink. At long last, the doctor came out to talk to them. Thaddeus and literally everyone sprang up from the bench to know what was wrong.

“You’re Thaddeus?” the doctor asked, turning to Thaddeus. Thaddeus nodded fervently.

“Yes, I’m her fiancée,” Thaddeus explained. The doctor smiled.

“Thaddeus, your fiancée is stable,” the doctor said. Thaddeus exhaled more deeply than he ever had before. Bridgett came forward.

“What was wrong with her?” she asked in concern.

“We’re still waiting on the test results,” the doctor explained. Then he turned to Thaddeus. “She wants to see you,”. Thaddeus smiled and nodded. The doctor, who appeared to be a hopeless romantic, smiled broadly and walked Thaddeus to Lexi’s hospital room. Lexi’s face broke into a big smile as she saw Thaddeus. Thaddeus felt the happiest he had that day. It warmed his heart to know that even if she was in pain, he could make her smile. He loved seeing her smile. It brought a million-dollar grin to his face as he hastened over to her and bent down and kissed her very softly.

“Oh, Thaddeus, are you okay?” Lexi asked as she noticed his blotchy red and tear-stained face.

“I’m much better now. How are you feeling, Fangirl?” he said softly.

“Much better,” she answered, echoing what he said and kissed him on the cheek. Thaddeus blushed a light pink and kneeled by her bedside.

“Mal said she had no idea what happened,” Thaddeus explained. Lexi nodded.

“I don’t think she did anything,” Lexi agreed. “I trust her,”

“I do as well,” Thaddeus nodded. Just then, everyone speed walked into Lexi’s room.

“Are you alright?!” the fangirls exclaimed in unison.

“I’m okay, I’m just really tired,” Lexi replied and Thaddeus wrapped an arm around her shoulders. Lexi’s parents came up to her and kissed her face right as the doctor came into the hospital room.

“We got the test results back. We tested that mug of hot chocolate and we found traces of cyanide in it,” the doctor told them. Lexi and Thaddeus looked at each other.

“What?!” Lexi exclaimed in shock. Thaddeus just shook his head in disbelief.

“But who did it?” Gabrielle asked. The other girls looked at each other, trying to figure it out. Mal and Evie exchanged glances.

“Was Adam unconscious?” Evie asked. Thaddeus ran a hand through his hair which was finally dry.

“Of course!” Thaddeus exclaimed. Lexi nodded.

“He hated me!” Lexi laughed which then turned into cough. Thaddeus shook his head and put a finger to his lips.

 “Shh,” Thaddeus shushed. Lexi pressed her forehead against Thaddeus’s forehead. “You’re finding this funny?” Thaddeus whispered.

“How else am I supposed to find it?” she whispered back before she kissed him. They both shared a chuckle before Thaddeus wrapped his arms around Lexi.

“Ewwwwww!” the fangirls squealed in unison. Thaddeus raised his eyebrows and kissed Lexi again, making Lexi giggle and the fangirls go, “Alright, alright, that’s enough,”. Mal’s phone started ringing right then and she grabbed her phone out of her purse.

“Excuse me,” she said and stalked out of the room. They heard her talking with Ben, telling him where she was, what happened, and reassuring him that Lexi was okay. After she hung up, she headed back in. “Ben and Jay are on their way here,” Mal told them.

“Okay,” Lexi said. After Jay and Ben got back, (They brought Lexi some daisies) they explained the situation and talked about what they were going to do.

“I think we should put them in the dungeon in the deepest cell. They both tried to kill you and I also think a restraining order might be a good idea,” Ben told them.

“That sounds wonderful,” Lexi agreed. “But, do we know where Adam is?”. Mal shook her head.

“Well, no,” she admitted. “But we’ll find him. You just be careful,”. They all nodded assent. The doctor came back and told them that Lexi would have to stay for observation for two days. Lexi and Thaddeus didn’t like that, but they didn’t put up a fight. All of them left to give Lexi and Thaddeus some alone time. They both started talking about how they would reschedule the wedding for February 16^th, but Thaddeus could see that Lexi was fighting to stay awake.

“Okay, you go to sleep,” he ordered. Lexi shook her head.

“No, I can stay awake,” she yawned. This time, Thaddeus shook his head.

 “You go to sleep. I’ll stay right here,” Thaddeus reassured her. Lexi finally nodded and leaned back on her pillows and closed her eyes. Within two seconds, she was asleep. Thaddeus kissed her forehead.

“Sweet dreams, Fangirl,” he whispered very softly so he wouldn’t wake her. Even though Lexi was asleep, Thaddeus was sure he saw her smile.
