Chapter 9 of Fangirls, book three!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D
Chapter 9, Panic and confusion
Thaddeus awoke with a start. He checked
his clock on his bedside table. 5:00 am. He thought about going back to sleep,
but pushed the thought away. There was no possible way he would be able to go
back to sleep now. He picked up his phone and saw he had a text from Lexi.
Thaddeus smiled and clicked open the message. But as he read the message, his
smiled faded away.
“Dear Thaddeus, I can’t do this. I’m
sorry, but I’m too scared about a life with you. It’s only a matter of time
before you yell at me again and treat me the way that Adam did. You’d be better
off with Karen Keene than me. Never again yours, Alexa PIEPER.”
Thaddeus frowned. He felt so sad and
mad at the same time. He didn’t understand why she would say that. That fight
was two months ago. But confusion drowned out everything else. He decided he
would call her. But when he did, she didn’t answer him. He didn’t know what to
do. Just then, his phone buzzed on his nightstand. Thinking it might be Lexi,
he eagerly picked it up, but it wasn’t. It was Lexi’s mother. Thaddeus hit the
green button to answer it. “Hello?” Thaddeus said, his voice still a little bit
deeper than normal from sleep. Thaddeus knew instantly something was wrong.
“Lexi’s gone!” her mom cried. Thaddeus
was on the verge of panicking but decided to be a gentleman for Lexi’s mom.
“What?” Thaddeus said, trying to keep
his voice calm.
“I came into to her room to wake her
up and she was gone. Is she with you? Did she say anything to you?” Lexi’s mom
asked.
“Um, well, I got a text from her, but
she doesn’t seem herself,” Thaddeus told her what it said.
“That doesn’t sound like her,” Lexi’s
mom said, sounding a bit more panicked.
“But this was sent at 3:00 am,”
Thaddeus said in confusion.
“I don’t think she made a run for it,”
Lexi’s mom told him.
“I don’t think she did either. That’s
not like her. It’s also not like her to mention Karen Keene or Adam Zeller,”
Thaddeus realized. “She rarely ever mentions them. Wait, I have an idea. Would
you go into her room and tell me what you see?” Lexi’s mom headed down the
hallway and into Lexi’s room.
“The windows open,” Lexi’s mom
noticed. “And her phone is still there. Oh, she has a missed call from you,”
“Um, I’m going to come over there.
I’ll be there in like fifteen minutes,” Thaddeus said and hung up the phone. He
called Mal and Ben and told them what happened. He also called the fangirls and
they panicked, but said they would meet them at her house. Once they met up,
they all crowded into Lexi’s bedroom and Thaddeus and the fangirls used a spell
to trace finger prints. (Dude! They’re detectives now) There were finger prints
on Lexi’s phone and her bedside table. The finger prints belonged to Lexi and
someone else. Two people actually. Adam Zeller and Karen Keene. Thaddeus mind
flashed to horrors beyond measure. But one stood out from the rest. Lexi
running away with Adam and marrying him instead. But that wouldn’t make sense
she had left her phone. Plus, why would Karen be there?
“What do you think happened?” Bridgett
asked.
“I don’t know,” Breanna answered. But
Thaddeus suddenly knew. Finger prints on her phone that weren’t hers. Finger
prints on her nightstand that weren’t hers. And Breanna realized it the same
time he did.
“Oh, no,” Breanna whispered. “Lexi was
captured.”
