Chapter 4 of Fangirls, book three!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D
Chapter 4, Yup, things are about to
get weird (again)
“Wait! The tree!” Lexi exclaimed.
Thaddeus and Lexi ran back to the backyard, Lexi calling out for her parents
but they were already running outside.
“What was all that commotion? Lexi,
Thaddeus are you okay?” Mom asked in concern. But Lexi and Thaddeus were
staring at the tree in bewilderment. The tree was just like it had been a few
moments before.
“The tree! It was just on fire!” Lexi
exclaimed. Lexi’s parents looked at them in disbelief.
“It was?” Dad asked. Thaddeus nodded.
“It must have been some kind of magic!
Lexi didn’t even see it happen,” Thaddeus explained. Then he dove right into
the story of what happened. Lexi’s parents nodded.
“Do you guys know who did it?” Lexi’s
mom asked. Thaddeus and Lexi shook their heads.
“No! I don’t really know who would
want to do that,” Lexi explained. But she caught herself and turned to Thaddeus.
“You don’t think Mad Maddy escaped her island, do you?” Lexi asked Thaddeus. Thaddeus
shook her head.
“No, she couldn’t have,” Thaddeus said
slowly as he took Lexi’s hand. “And, I think she would have gone after Mal and
Ben if she escaped,” Thaddeus explained. Then, him and Lexi exchanged dark
looks.
“You know, I just going to check that,”
Thaddeus said and grabbed his phone from his pocket. He dialed Ben’s phone
number and he didn’t answer.
“Oh, no” Lexi muttered. “They’re all
lying dead in a ditch,” Lexi whispered to herself. Thaddeus tried not to laugh
as he slung an arm around her shoulders.
“Lexi, they are not lying dead in a
ditch,” Thaddeus told her. Just then, Thaddeus’s phone started ringing. It was
Ben. “See?” Thaddeus said, showing Lexi the phone. Lexi nodded. “Hey,” Thaddeus
greeted.
“Hey, you called me earlier. Sorry I
didn’t answer that. I was laying the twins down for their nap. What’s up?” Ben
asked. Thaddeus chewed on his lip a little bit.
“Well, you haven’t had any attacks in
Auradon lately, have you?” Thaddeus asked. Ben sounded concerned and confused.
“No. Why? Have you had any attacks?”
Ben asked. Thaddeus nodded even though Ben couldn’t see him.
“Yes. The tree in Lexi’s back yard was
set on fire while she was sitting under it,” Thaddeus explained.
“That doesn’t sound good,” Ben said
concernedly. Thaddeus shook his head again.
“It wasn’t. I’m still kind of shaky.
Lexi was back there by herself because I heard a noise in the front yard so I
went out to see what it was and the next thing I know, I hear her screaming and
I thought I heard something burning and I was terrified,” Thaddeus explained.
“Oh, yeah. That is always terrifying,”
Ben said sympathetically. “Don’t I know it?” At that moment, Thaddeus and Lexi
felt so sorry for Ben. He had been through the ringer. He became king at only
sixteen, his girlfriend had come back to the Isle of the Lost and he felt like
it was his fault, so he came there and apologized and begged her to come back
and he got his heart broken and he captured on the same trip. He got turned
into a beast and turned to stone on the same day for Pete’s sakes! And he knows
what it’s like to have his wife die already! This guy can’t seem to catch a
break! After Thaddeus told Ben about the situation, Ben told Mal and they would
be stepping up security big time, just in case.
A few weeks after the tree incident,
things were beginning to get peaceful again. The guards saw nothing threatening
on the horizon. No Mad Maddy. No other bad guys. Everybody started letting
there guard down just a little, but that’s just what they were expecting.
A few weeks after the guards started
well, keeping guard, Ben and Mal went on a date, leaving Braydon, Michelle, and
Mallory with Beast and Belle. Mal and Ben were just about to order their
dinner, when Ben’s phone started ringing. “Oh, I’m sorry. Excuse me.” he said
politely as he answered. It was his mom. “Hello?” Ben said into the phone.
Belle was crying.
“I set Mallory down in her crib for
bed and later I heard her crying so I came to get her and she was gone!” Ben’s
eyes widened in fear.
“What?! Okay, we’ll be home in a
minute!” Ben said and hung up the phone. He turned to Mal who was staring at
him in concern. “We have to go now! Mallory was kidnapped!” he exclaimed
quietly so no one else would hear him because he didn’t want to cause a ruckus.
Mal gasped and immediately stood and started hurrying out the door. Ben chased
after her. He should have expected this once Thaddeus called him about the tree
being set on fire. Time for some more trouble, whether he liked it or not.
