Chapter 2, True Love
A couple of months had passed.
Thaddeus had started going to the same college that Lexi was going to.
Except, when you are a man and go on a
service trip like that, when you get home, all the girls will stare at you. And
that’s what happened to Thaddeus. He was just on the campus and all the girls
started talking to him and whispering about him and staring at him. He could tell this irritated Lexi, though, which he found a little funny. Eventually,
he shouted across the campus, “You guys know I’m not single, right?”
“Aww!” all the girls said in unison
and started muttering amongst themselves and Lexi, who was standing right next
to Thaddeus, started laughing. Thaddeus had started taking a photography course
because he was into that kind of thing. He didn’t realize it at the time, but
after a couple months, he realized that that photography, made that perfect
cover story for proposing in some place that is romantic. He also got a job
with good pay so that he could get Lexi a claddagh ring. But not just any claddagh
ring. A claddagh ring with an amethyst heart instead of just any color. He knew
that that color was her favorite. He had to think of some place that was
romantic, but that did take a little while. Eventually, he did think of the
perfect place. He chose the Enchanted Lake in Auradon! Because he knew what
Descendants meant to Lexi and it was a gorgeous and romantic place to propose.
And he had the perfect cover story so she wouldn’t get suspicious and find out
what he was doing. One day in late November, Thaddeus called Lexi to tell her
the fake plan.
“Hey Lexi!” Thaddeus said through the
phone.
“Hey Thaddeus!” Lexi replied happily.
Thaddeus smiled.
“Hey, I have a photography assignment
and we need to make a portfolio. I was wondering if I could take pictures of
you for it?” Thaddeus asked.
“Of course! When?” Lexi asked.
Thaddeus smiled.
“Tomorrow at noon. Can you meet me at
the Enchanted Lake in Auradon?” Thaddeus asked.
“Yeah! What will I wear?” Lexi asked.
Thaddeus chuckled.
“You choose,” Thaddeus said.
“Okay! I love you so much!” Lexi said.
Thaddeus smiled.
“I love you too!” he said and Lexi
hung up.
So, Thaddeus had ordered the ring a
few weeks before he made the plans with Lexi. It was absolutely gorgeous! The
ring was golden and had an amethyst heart like he planned! Perfect! The day
after Thaddeus called Lexi about his fake homework assignment, at noon Thaddeus
went to the Enchanted Lake and soon Lexi got there too. Lexi was wearing a knee
length lavender dress with white horizontal stripes all down the dress. Her
hair was curled and she wore her gold heals she wore at homecoming. “You look
beautiful!” Thaddeus exclaimed. He was wearing a grey suit and his hair was
done in his usual style and he was wearing his nicest shoes.
“Thank you! So do you! Why are you all
dressed up?” Lexi asked. Thaddeus chuckled.
“I’m all dressed up so I can take
pictures of you and me for the portfolio,” he said. Or because he’s proposing.
Lexi smiled.
“Great! When should we start?” Lexi
asked.
“Right now,” Thaddeus told her. So, he
took her around the lake and took pictures of her and sometimes her and him. They
soon walked up to a waterfall behind the pavilion where Mal and Ben had their
first date. Lexi gasped.
“Oh, my gosh! It’s gorgeous!” she
said, amazed. Thaddeus smiled.
“It really is,” he said, smiling. But
he wasn’t looking at the waterfall. He was looking at Lexi. Thaddeus took a
picture of Lexi just to sell the idea of the homework assignment. Then Thaddeus
held out his hand to Lexi. “My lady,” he said sweetly. Lexi smiled.
“Where are we going?” she asked.
Thaddeus smiled at her.
“You’ll see,” he said, one hand over
the lump in his pocket. Lexi smiled again and took his hand. He led her up and
behind the waterfall. He smiled at her. Lexi laughed.
“What?” she asked. Okay, somethings
up Lexi thought
“Do you remember when we first met?”
he asked her. Lexi nodded, still smiling.
“I remember,” she said.
“I could barely talk. It was so embarrassing!”
he exclaimed softly. Wait, what is he doing?
Lexi thought. But Lexi shook her head and giggled.
“No, you were so cute!” she smiled.
Thaddeus let out a mild chuckle and tried to swallow down his nerves.
“Well, it’s probably a good thing I
can speak now, so I can say this,” Lexi stared at him. Wait, is he doing what
I think he’s doing? Lexi thought in
disbelief.
“Lexi, you are the girl of my dreams and, I love you with my
whole being. Ever since I saw you, you captured my heart and I adore you. I
can’t imagine my life without you,” then he got down on one knee and pulled out
a small, light brown box and opened it. Lexi gasped softly and smiled. “Alexa
Bridgett Piper, my sweet fangirl, will you marry me?” Lexi stared at Thaddeus,
transfixed. It was as though she was frozen in time, caught between worlds. Did
that really just happen? It must have because he was right there kneeling
before her, bearing a claddagh ring, with an amethyst heart at it's center. Lexi suddenly felt
tears rolling down her cheeks and she happily sobbed.
“I would marry you on my front porch!” she exclaimed and she
got down on her knees and wrapped her arms around him. Her forehead touched his, and then forehead changed to lips and they kissed. Thaddeus
sighed in relief and slipped the claddagh ring upside down on her left hand.
“Tha gaol agam ort a ghrádh” he said sweetly and softly.
“I love you too!” Lexi sobbed.
Thaddeus looked at her in surprise.
“How do you know Gaelic?” he asked.
“At college, they have a class I started
taking this semester. I understand more then I speak,” she explained, tears
still streaming down her face in small waterfalls. Thaddeus started wiping her
tears away with his thumb.
“Oh now, you don’t want your mascara
to run,” Lexi giggled.
“Oh, Thaddeus! This ring is so
beautiful! And it’s Celtic!” she squealed, still wiping away tears of joy.
Thaddeus smiled at her for about the millionth time today.
“Well, I wanted to get you a ring that
was just like you,” he whispered sweetly. Lexi smiled at Thaddeus with such
adoration and Thaddeus could his cheeks rising in a big smile. He had waited
for years for her to look at him like that. “It kind of seems like you like it,”
Thaddeus teased.
“Just a little bit,” Lexi teased back.
Thaddeus laughed and kissed her cheek. Soon, they were heading back to their
own dimension to tell some people the happy news.
