Chapter three of Fangirls, book three!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D
Chapter 3, Surprises
Once upon a regular Tuesday, Karen
Keene was sitting at home on her couch, looking on her Facebook, just browsing.
She was just making fun of someone who posted about some stupid movie that had
just come out, when she saw something that immediately caught her attention.
She saw a post from Cristy Pieper. Or, Cristy Tolbert as her name was now. She
a picture of her old school nemesis, Lexi Pieper. And she was standing with Thaddeus Hawthorne.
“Oh, she so does not deserve him,” she said with a huff and an eyeroll. “Why
would you want her when you can have me?” she asked herself. “She’s as dumb as
a box of rocks,” she muttered. Then she read ahead what Cristy had written.
“My little sister’s getting married!” it read. Karen gasped. Did she read that right? She must have. Sure enough! Lexi had a really pretty ring on her left hand!
“That little man thief!” she
exclaimed angerly. “That little box of
rocks!” she screamed. Her mom came running in to where she was.
“Karen honey, are you alright?” her
mother inquired of her.
“Yes! I’m fine!” she snapped. Her mom
looked at her with that “Did you really say that to your mother?” look.
“Sorry,” she said meekly and quietly.
Her mom nodded.
“Mm hm” she said and walked out of the
room. Karen sat down on the couch again and sighed in exasperation. She would
to figure out what do with Lexi.
Meanwhile, Lexi and Thaddeus had
gathered Breanna, Kaylee, Bridgett and Gabrielle all in the same room again to
share the news. They all had graduated high school except for Gabrielle who was
still in high school. She had just entered her senior year actually. Breanna
had started college where Lexi had. They all did. Breanna was studying music
and on the basketball team, Kaylee was studying art, (No surprise) and she was
in the book club, Bridgett was studying English and was in the choir. Lexi was
also studying English and ballet. Anyway, they all congregated in Lexi’s living
room and they were all home for Thanksgiving break so, they could all make it
there. “So,” Breanna said as she sat down on couch.
“What’s going on? What’s the news?”
she asked. Lexi was smiling and concealing her left hand beneath her right.
“I want to know what’s going on with
you guys,” Lexi said, sounding happy as a clam. Kaylee huffed.
“You already know what’s going on with
us! Tell us or I’m going to lose my mind!” Bridgett and Gabrielle nodded in
agreement
“Are you going to tell them?” Thaddeus asked. Lexi nodded. Thaddeus quickly covered his ears. Proposing in a romantic way plus telling a house full of fangirls equals everybody in that house going deaf. Lexi removed her right hand from her left and revealed her engagement ring. Sure enough, all of the fangirls started screaming.
“How?! When?!
Where?!” Bridgett squealed. Lexi laughed.
“Shh,” Lexi said, putting her finger
to her lips. Then she explained the story.
“Awwwwwwww!” all the fangirls squealed
in unison as Lexi finished her story. Thaddeus started snickering from behind
his hand. Then Breanna turned to Thaddeus. “You have done amazing” she said as
she shook his hand.
“Thanks, Breanna,” Thaddeus replied.
Gabrielle started jumping up and down.
“My OTP is finally cannon!!” she
exclaimed. Breanna groaned, but she was chuckling.
“TMI, Gabrielle,” Breanna said as she
clamped her hand down on Gabrielle’s shoulder and pushed her back down on the
couch.
“Let us see the ring!” Gabrielle exclaimed. They all nodded. Lexi held out her left hand and let them see it.
“Oh, my gosh!” Bridgett exclaimed. “It’s beautiful! And Celtic!” Lexi smiled.
“And your favorite color!” Gabrielle
squealed. Lexi nodded, smiling at Thaddeus this time.
“Well, I wanted to get a ring that was just like her. Celtic and beautiful” Thaddeus said in a soft, romantic tone.
“Awwwwwwww!!” most of the fangirls sighed in unison while Breanna snorted at their reaction. Thaddeus started outright laughing at their reaction as well. Lexi grabbed Thaddeus hand in hers.
“Do you think our Auradonion friends would like to know?” Lexi asked the room. They all nodded. Lexi went on Google meet and clicked open the group with Mal, Evie and jay on it. They all answered after a couple seconds.
“Hey!” Mal and Ben greeted. Mal was holding their third child. A girl, Mallory, who was only three months old and they could hear three-year-old Braydon and Michelle playing on the floor. Evie and Doug were sitting on their couch. They had gotten married about two years before this and Evie was holding their three-month-old son in her arms. Derek. Jay had married Lonnie one year before this and Lonnie was extremely pregnant with their first child. They were sitting down on their couch as well.
“What’s up?” Evie asked. Lexi and Thaddeus smiled at each other. Then Lexi held up her left hand. Everybody gasped and smiled.
“Oh, my goodness!” Evie squealed. “I’m so happy
for you two!”
“When did you get engaged?” Ben asked.
Thaddeus explained when and where and how he proposed.
“You proposed in Auradon?” Mal asked.
Thaddeus nodded.
“That is so sweet!” Lonnie and Evie
chorused. Thaddeus started laughing again. Pretty much all he can do today apparently.
“So, do you have a date picked out?”
Doug asked. Thaddeus and Lexi exchanged glances.
“We like February ninth” Lexi
explained. They all nodded approval.
“That’s soon! That feels like such a
short time!” Ben said. Lexi laughed.
“Keep in mind we’re not royal and our
wedding won’t be as big as yours, of course,” Lexi reminded them. Ben nodded.
“Just feels weird for us,” Mal
remarked. After some more small talk, they all hung up. The fangirls hung out
for a while before they all had to go home. Thaddeus and Lexi went outside and
said goodbye to the departing fangirls. Thaddeus and Lexi went out back to
Lexi’s backyard and sat down under the tree. They were just so in love and
happy! They had told only family and close friends about the engagement and
that suited them both just fine. Lexi felt she absolutely melted under
Thaddeus’s gaze of adoration and love with those lovely sea green eyes of his.
And his laugh made her smile any day. Thaddeus was always taken by Lexi’s deep
hazel eyes and her smile. And he thought her freckles across her nose were
adorable as well and her sweetness. They were sitting under the tree in Lexi’s
backyard as I said before and they were talking about the wedding,
(Specifically a theme) when Thaddeus heard a noise.
“Sorry Lexi, but did you hear that?”
Thaddeus asked. Lexi shook her head.
“Hmm. Okay, keep going,” Thaddeus said.
Lexi kept going on what she always imagined for her wedding when she was in
high school and seeing how they could collaborate with what Thaddeus liked,
when they heard the noise again.
“What is that?” Thaddeus asked. Lexi
shook her head.
“I don’t know,” she confessed.
“I’m going to go check it out. Stay
here,” Thaddeus told her. Lexi nodded.
“Okay,” she replied. Thaddeus jogged
out through gate and walked into the front yard. He walked all around the yard. He
saw nothing. Nothing out of the ordinary. Just then, Thaddeus heard Lexi
screaming and he thought he heard something burning!
“Lexi, I’m coming!” Thaddeus called to
her. He bolted to the gate to only find Lexi already running from the tree,
that was burning. “Lexi! Are you alright? What happened?” Thaddeus asked her in
concern. Lexi nodded.
“Yeah. Yeah, I’m fine,” She panted.
“It just caught fire! I didn’t even see it happen!” Thaddeus nodded as he
embraced Lexi.
“It sounds like magic,” Thaddeus
explained. Lexi nodded.
“That’s what I was thinking too,” Lexi
said. Thaddeus exhaled in relief.
“Oh, my gosh Lexi! You had me worried!
I am so glad you’re okay. I never would have forgiven myself if something happened,” Thaddeus exclaimed softly.
"I would have made you forgive yourself," Lexi whispered. Then she stood on her toes and kissed him.
“I love you so much,” Lexi whispered.
Thaddeus smiled at her.
“I love you too, fangirl,” he whispered
back.
Karen growled softly so no one would hear her. Then, a hooded figure joined her. “What’s up Karen?” the figure asked. She sighed.
“Nothing. Just upset it didn’t work. But no matter. We’ll
try again,” the figure nodded. Karen looked at the figure in admiration. “But,
I’m glad to have you with me. Setting the tree on fire was an excellent idea,
Adam,”
