Chapter 14 and 15 of Fangirls, book two!!!!!!!!!!!!! π
Chapter 14, True happiness
Lexi and Thaddeus had arrived at homecoming. Breanna was already there with her date, Henry from the basketball team. Breanna was wearing a knee length red dress that also had gold piping on it and her hair was in an elegant braid. Kaylee was also there with her date from art class, Peter. He was super into art as well. He and Kaylee got along great. She had forest green dress on that reached her thighs that was covered in sequins and her was in a curled side do. Then there was Bridgett and her date, Mitchel from history class. Bridgett was also in a green dress and it went to her knees and it was covered in sparkles and her hair was in a bun. Gabrielle was in a light pink number covered in sparkles like Bridgett’s that reached her knees and her hair was curled as well. She was dancing with Oliver. They weren’t on a date, but he had asked her to dance and of course, she had accepted. The song ended and they all met up and squealed at how pretty each of them looked. Just then, something caught Lexi’s eye and she found it amusing.
“Oh my gosh!” she exclaimed to them. “Adam ended up going with Karen!”
Everyone started laughing as they saw Adam hanging out with Karen, and Adam looked disgruntled and irritated. After the song that was playing ended, a swing dance song came on.
“May I have this dance?” Thaddeus asked, holding out his hand to Lexi.
Lexi grabbed his hand and they took the floor. After all those years of doing social dance, Thaddeus got very good.
“Dang!” Lexi exclaimed as they did a pretty complicated move. “I forgot how good you were at this!” Thaddeus smiled at the compliment.
“Thanks!” he said in return as he
twirled her around, her lavender skirt twirling very easily. Just then, Lexi
felt another hand grab her hand and twirl her over to him. He had a
familiar handsome face. It was Adam. Lexi instantly glared at him.
“Ugh! You!” she said in disgust as she
tried to walk away, but Adam grabbed her hand turned her back.
“Look, dumping you was wrong and so
was asking out Karen,” Adam explained. Lexi nodded her head.
“You think?” she asked sarcastically.
“So,” Adam continued. “Maybe we could spend homecoming together” he said, his voice getting softer as he spoke. Lexi let out a laugh.
“Hmm let me think about it. No!” she exclaimed as she tried to walk away again but he grabbed her hand and turned her back.
“Why not?” Adam asked, his voice getting whiny.
“Um, there was no apology in that little speech you just gave me, you lied to me, cheated on me, and then dumped me, and I already have a date, thank you!” she exclaimed as she tried once more to walk away, but he wouldn’t let her.
“With who?” he asked. Lexi sighed. Man, this guy
was persistent!
“Thaddeus” Lexi replied. This time,
Adam laughed.
“You’re going out with that nerdy dweeb and yet you refuse me?” Adam asked rudely. Lexi gasped and glared at Adam.
“Don’t call him a dweeb! And so what if he’s smart? It’s very refreshing
from the last guy I had!” Lexi exclaimed at angerly at Adam.
Whoa! She just roasted him! Thaddeus
thought as he watched their conversation.
“And he’s kind and sympathetic and gentle and he treats me with respect! Unlike someone else I know” Lexi said angerly. “Don’t try and make me do something that I really don’t want to do!” Lexi exclaimed and turned away from Adam. And she did the sassy flip as she turned away.
Woah, she just flipped her hair. Stuff just got serious Thaddeus
thought, remembering the time where she did that exact hair flip to him. Adam
glared at Lexi’s retreating back.
“Descendants is stupid and so are you!” he shouted at her. Lexi stopped walking and frowned. Thaddeus knew that look. He knew it because he had just seen it on her face a few weeks ago, but she was about turn around and face him anyway. Thaddeus shook his head and grabbed her shoulder.
“No, no. Let me handle it” he said to her. Then he walked
over to Adam.
“So, you think she’s a stupid girl? Well, I guess it takes one to know one!” Thaddeus exclaimed angerly. “Now leave Lexi alone and go away!!” Thaddeus yelled at Adam. Adam scoffed and laughed dryly.
“Oh, really? And you’re some big hero
to her? Please! You’re more pathetic than she is” Adam insulted.
Thaddeus’s eyes widened and he glared
at Adam. “Excuse me?!” Thaddeus yelled.
“Listen! If you make one more crack at Lexi’s expense, you’ll be sorry you ever opened your mouth! And at least I don’t run through five girls a day and then dump them! At least I treat girls with respect! If anything, you’re pathetic!” Thaddeus yelled. Adam scoffed, but Thaddeus could see that he looked a little scared and offended and was about to say something but Thaddeus cut him off. “Now, go away!” Thaddeus shouted. By then, everybody was watching.
“You can’t make me!” Adam got out. Thaddeus
scoffed.
“I can’t, but this can,” he said as green sparks flouted around in his hands, he did a little charm so it was invisible to everyone else but Adam. Adam screamed like a little girl and ran the other way. Everybody started to laugh.
“Yeah, that’s what I thought” Thaddeus said to himself. Just then, Ella ran over to him.
“That was awesome!”
she exclaimed. Thaddeus looked surprised.
“Um, thank you?” he said
questioningly. Ella nodded.
“I didn’t know he was cheating on her.
Once I found out, I broke up with him,” Thaddeus nodded.
“Oh! Good for you,” he said. Ella
smiled. Then she whispered in his ear.
“By the way, I think you guys make a
lovely couple,” she said approvingly.
“Oh, thank you,” Thaddeus replied,
somewhat awkwardly. Ella nodded.
“Tell Lexi I’m sorry he cheated on
her. She didn’t deserve it,” Ella told Thaddeus. Thaddeus nodded.
“Yeah, I’ll tell her,” he said. Ella
smiled and walked away. Then Thaddeus headed back in Lexi’s direction.
“Hey,” he said, smiling. “I just wanted to say I thought it was awesome how you defended me like that,” he told her. Lexi smiled.
“Thanks for defending me too,” she said, smiling still.
“Thaddeus, I like y-, this song. I love this song!” she exclaimed. That was true. She did like the song that had started playing. It was a slow, romantic song. It was Perfect by Ed Sheeran. But she was about tell him that she liked him, but she got scared and backed out. Thaddeus looked a bit disappointed but recovered quickly.
“Shall we, then?” Thaddeus asked. Lexi nodded and smiled. They had just started waltzing, when Lexi’s phone started ringing. She knew who was because Did I mention had started playing in her little purse. Lexi sighed a little as she picked up her phone.
“Aren’t you going to answer that?” Thaddeus asked. Lexi shook her head.
“I hadn’t planned on it,” she replied.
Thaddeus shook his head.
“Um, Mal’s eight months pregnant.
Something could be wrong,” Thaddeus reminded her.
“Oh, right,” Lexi said as she answered
the phone. “Hey Ben. What’s up?” she asked.
“Um, Mal’s in labor. We want you guys
to be here,” Ben said through the phone. He sounded nervous. Lexi’s eyes
widened.
“Oh, she has impeccable timing,
doesn’t she?” Lexi observed. Thaddeus motioned for Lexi to put the phone down.
“Um, Ben give me one second,” she said and she put the phone down. “What?” she
asked.
“Well? Aren’t you going to go?”
Thaddeus asked. Lexi shrugged and frowned.
“I don’t know. I want to be here and I
want to be there and I thought you would want me to be here and wow my emotions
are conflicted!” Lexi exclaimed softly. Thaddeus smiled in amusement.
“Well of course I want you to be here but I can’t let you not go! I can see the fangirl glint in your eyes,” Thaddeus said.
Lexi sighed. “You’re sure?” she asked. Thaddeus nodded.
“Yes,” he answered.
“Will you come with me?” Lexi asked.
Thaddeus nodded and smiled.
“I thought you’d never ask. Plus, I’d be coming anyway,” Thaddeus said, still smiling. Lexi smiled too. Then she brought the phone back to her ear.
“Ben, we’re on our way,” Lexi said happily
and hung up. Then she grabbed Thaddeus’s hand and they ran to the corner where
they all start their school day and sent a text to their group chat.
You guys come quick to our corner! Mal's in
labor!
Meanwhile, Breanna was dancing with Henry and living the dream, when she heard her phone buzz in her purse. When the song ended shortly after, she checked her phone and found that there was a text on the group chat from Lexi. When she read it, she gasped. Henry looked at her in concern.
“What’s wrong?” Henry asked. Breanna shrugged.
“Um, nothing. Just my friend she’s
giving birth.” Henry looked at her.
“Oh!” He exclaimed. “What does the
text say?” he asked.
“Just my friend saying to meet
somewhere in the gym,” Breanna explained. Henry looked at her.
“Then you should go,” he said in sad
tone. Breanna just stared at him.
“Are you sure about this?” she asked
him.
“Yes. Go.” he said. Breanna started to
walk away when she turned back to Henry.
“I just wanted to say that I really
like you and I’ve really liked being with you tonight,” she told him.
“I really like you too, Breanna,” he
said. Before she left, he kissed her on the cheek. Breanna smiled at him and
headed toward the corner. Bridgett and Kaylee had similar experiences with
their dates. They both agreed that they should go to where their friend is,
even though they were sad they had to go. They would go on a date after
this. Once they were with Lexi, they all got permission from their parents to go be with Mal and Ben. Then they quickly headed behind the building to create a portal. As soon as they were in
Auradon, they walked to the hospital and found Ben outside the hospital room
Mal was in. “Hey!” Ben said. But then he looked confused. “Why are you all
fancy?” he asked, but then he realized. “You guys were at homecoming, weren’t
you?” Ben asked. They all nodded.
“I am so sorry!” Ben exclaimed.
“Oh, no, that’s okay!” Lexi exclaimed as they all walked into the hospital room to find Mal smiling at them, but in a lot of pain.
“Hey guys!” she panted. They all smiled back at her.
“Hello!” they greeted, but then they noticed all the people in the room. There was Evie, Jay, Doug, Belle, Beast, Hades and Maleficent was on Hades’s shoulder.
“Why are there so many people in
here?” Kaylee asked. Ben explained that there was Auradonion tradition where
they invited family and close friends to the birth of their first child. “Do
they not do this in your dimension?” Mal asked. Bridgett shook her head.
“No, it’s actually really private in
our dimension” she explained. Ben and Mal exchanged glances.
“Wow, our dimensions are different!”
Evie exclaimed. Bridgett nodded and laughed.
“You have no idea” she giggled.
They sat in that hospital room for quite a while, talking and laughing and
playing two truths and a lie. As soon as Mal was dilated ten centimeters, everyone
was kicked out except for Ben. Evie looked like she was about to lose her mind
and Doug had his arm around her. The fangirls were seated close together on a
bench and Thaddeus was holding Lexi’s hand, which she had a death grip on. At
long last, they heard a baby crying from inside the room. They released a
gigantic sigh of relief and Ben came out of the room and invited everyone to
come back in. Beast clapped his hand on Ben’s back in approval. Everyone came
back into the hospital room to find Mal holding a baby swaddled in a blue
blanket. It was a boy. For a moment, everybody was happy and content as Mal
handed the baby to Ben. The fangirls were obsessing over the baby. He was so
cute! But suddenly, Mal’s eyes started closing and she fell on her pillows and
the heart monitor started beeping rapidly. Ben started freaking out but the
midwife kicked everybody out so she could see what was wrong. Ben sat down on
the bench, chewing his fingernails. Lexi put an arm around Ben and told him
that everything was going to be okay, but Thaddeus didn’t buy the fact that she
seemed totally calm. Thaddeus pulled her aside.
“Are you okay?” He asked her. Lexi
shook her head.
“No! Of course, I’m not!” she exclaimed quietly so Ben wouldn’t hear her. Thaddeus put his arm around Lexi’s shoulders.
“It’ll be okay,” Thaddeus said in soothing manor. “The midwife will figure out what’s wrong. Now deep breaths. In, out. In, out.” Thaddeus said. Lexi smiled, but then she sat down next to Ben as they waited for news. Soon, the midwife came back out of the hospital room, looking concerned.
“Um, I need
those with magic to come here,” she said, trying sound calm for everybody’s
sake, but she still sounded a little scared. The fangirls and Thaddeus headed
into the hospital room, trying to feel the courage that they projected on their
faces. Once they were inside, the midwife told them the details. “Um, there’s
another baby” the midwife told them. Their pupils dilated a considerable
amount.
“Wait, so what do you need us for?”
Breanna asked.
“Well, it was magic that got that baby
in there,” she explained.
“What?” Lexi asked, sounding shocked.
“Yeah! I don’t know how, but it happened,” she
explained. They all nodded again, looking a little scared.
“So, what do you want us do?”
Gabrielle asked, sounding terrified.
“I need you guys to get the baby out,”
she said tentatively. They all gasped in unison.
“What?” Kaylee said. The midwife
nodded.
“The thing is, if magic got the baby
in there, we need magic to get the baby out. That’s just how it works,” the
midwife explained.
They all nodded. “Well, the first
thing we need to is come up with a spell,” Breanna said bravely.
“I think you should come up with it,
Breanna,” Lexi suggested. Breanna stared at her.
“Why me?” Breanna asked in fear. Lexi
stared at her in disapproval.
“Excuse me little miss song writer,”
Lexi said. Breanna sighed.
“Okay fine,” she said as she went into the corner to come up with the spell. After about a minute, Breanna came back.
“Okay how about this? Beware, forswear, get the baby out of there?” she
suggested. “Is that really the best you can come up with?” Kaylee teased.
Breanna glared at her.
“Hey there are two lives on the line right now! I don’t have time for the best spell ever!” she exclaimed. Kaylee stared at her.
“I was joking,” Kaylee explained. Breanna bit her lip.
“Oh, sorry,” she said. After that, they all joined hands and sparks of all of their favorite colors flew around the room. Lavender for Lexi, red for Breanna, sage green for Kaylee, sunshine yellow for Bridgett, hot pink for Gabrielle and forest green for Thaddeus. They all took a deep breath and said the incantation.
“Beware, forswear, get the baby out of there!” they exclaimed. Before long, the baby came shooting out. The midwife immediately began wrapping the baby in several blankets. They gasped and sighed with relief. They all got a good look at the baby. It was a girl! For a few precious seconds they were all happy and content.
“I can’t believe
that worked!” Breanna exclaimed softly. Lexi nodded and smiled at Breanna and
they hugged. But then they heard the one sound you would never want to hear in
a hospital. They heard the long, high note of the heart monitor. Mal’s heart
had stopped.
Don’t stop there! I wouldn’t torture
you like that! Keep scrolling down! The next chapter is there! Hope is in
sight!

Chapter 15, Big news
“Okay, minor set back,” Lexi said, sounding a little terrified. Breanna raised her eyebrows and looked shocked at her.
“Minor?! She just died!” she exclaimed.
“We can salvage this,” Lexi said hurriedly. First, they tried the defibrillator about four or five times, but it didn’t work.
“Um, okay we’ll try this!” Lexi said and they joined hands and they did a healing incantation. And no, not talking about the one from Tangled. They did it three or four times, but that did not work either. They were a very subdued lot indeed.
“Okay this could still be fine! We just need to write a new
incantation! This is going to be okay right? We’re fine!” Lexi exclaimed.
“Lexi!” Breanna shouted. “She’s gone. We just need to let her go.” she said as tears filled her eyes. It didn’t take long before Lexi started to cry. Soon, they all were. Thaddeus didn’t cry, but he did feel quite sad. He wanted to stay strong for everybody else. Thaddeus put an arm around Lexi’s shoulders and Lexi leaned her head against Thaddeus’s chest and wrapped her arms around him. Unexpected warmth filled Thaddeus’s chest and he was happy to provide some kind of comfort. The midwife looked like she was about to cry herself, but she was trying to hold it back.
“I have to go tell his Majesty,” The midwife whispered. Lexi shot up from the floor.
“No! I have to do it,” she said, wiping her tears away. “It’ll be better coming from someone he knows.” She grabbed the baby and walked out the door. As soon as she did, Ben pounced on her.
“What happened? Is she alright?” he exclaimed. Lexi almost started crying again as he asked but she managed to hold it together. She handed him the baby.
“You have a daughter. Congratulations,”
she said softly, barley looking him in the eye. Ben smiled.
“Oh, my goodness! That’s amazing! How’s Mal? Is she alr- he cut himself off as he caught the look on Lexi’s face. “What’s wrong? Is she alright?” Ben asked, sounding absolutely terrified. Tears pooled in Lexi’s eyes as she sharply inhaled. Once again, Lexi could hardly look him in the eye.
“Ben, I’m so sorry, Mal didn’t make it!” the sentence ended in a sob as she started to cry again. Ben gasped and clapped a hand to his mouth and sunk to the floor. “Ben, I’m so sorry we did everything we could to save her but we couldn’t save her!” Lexi exclaimed as tears streamed down her face. Thaddeus took her in his arms and held her as she cried and he stroked her hair and whispered consoling things. Evie ran across the hallway of the hospital screaming and crying and Doug ran after her. Jay sunk down on the bench and silent tears streamed down his face. Hades frowned and tears pricked in his eyes. Belle had tears in her eyes too, but she wanted to stay strong for Ben and so did Beast. They got down on the floor and embraced him in their arms. Ben took a breath.
“I know Lexi. I know it wasn’t your fault,” Ben turned to the midwife as tears started streaming down his face. “May I say good-bye to her?” Ben asked. The midwife nodded, a sympathetic look in her eyes.
“Yes, of
course. Right this way” Ben walked into the hospital room to find a lifeless
Mal. Ben bent down next to the hospital bed and started sobbing.
“Thank you, for bringing our children into the world. And thank you for kissing me at cotilion and, did I mention that I’m in love with you?” he said right before he kissed her one last time. It was quiet for a moment, everyone not daring to speak. But then they heard something. The heart monitor started up again. Ben was so distraught; he didn’t even notice. All of the sudden, Mal gasped behind them.
“Ben?” she asked. Ben turned around, hardly daring to believe it.
“Mal?” Ben said.
“Did I mention that I love you too?”
she said smiling at him. Ben sighed in relief and laughed in delight.
“Oh, Mal!” he cried as they embraced
and they kissed. Then Ben sat down next Mal on the bed.
“We’re parents, Mal. We have kids!”
Ben said as he kissed her forehead. But Mal looked confused.
“Kids?” Mal asked. Lexi spoke up, but
did not move from Thaddeus’s arms.
“Um, there was another baby. We don’t know how she got there, but she was there. We got her out while you were unconscious,” Lexi told her, still crying. Evie suddenly walked in still sobbing and Doug had his arm around her, but then Evie caught sight of Mal sitting up in bed and being fully alive.
“Mal! But they said you were dead!” Evie cried.
Breanna spoke up this time.
“Oh, you know. True loves kiss? Works every
time?” (Uma, Descendants 3) Breanna said. Evie nodded.
“Oh! Well, that makes sense. Wait, I
missed it?!” she exclaimed. They all started to laugh and for a while, they
couldn’t stop because they were all not emotionally okay.
Thaddeus and Lexi sat outside of the hospital room on a bench. “Man, tonight was insane” Lexi said. Thaddeus nodded fervently in agreement.
“I whole-heartedly agree,” Thaddeus said. Lexi was suddenly massaging her temples.
“Ow, my head hurts,” Lexi whispered to herself.
“Well, that’s what happens when you cry into my shirt all night,” Thaddeus teased. Lexi glared at him, but Thaddeus could tell she was kidding because she was laughing.
“Hey! You let me cry into your shirt all night!” Lexi giggled. “I wonder what sort of homecoming we missed,” Lexi added. Thaddeus smiled at her.
“Who says we have to miss it?”
Thaddeus asked as he pulled out his phone. He pulled up Spotify and Perfect by
Ed Sheeran started playing. He held out his hand to her. “May I have this dance,
milady?” he asked in soft tone. Lexi nodded and smiled at him as he pulled her
into his arms and they started dancing right in the hallway. She rested her
head against his chest as they danced and Thaddeus felt butterflies fill his
stomach. Breanna and the girls heard music from the hallway and they looked
out. They saw Thaddeus and Lexi dancing! They slowly started backing back into
the hospital room so that they would have some privacy. But then they all
started peaking again because they couldn’t miss this! After that, Thaddeus and
Lexi sat down again. Thaddeus looked at her romantically as he noticed that one
side of Lexi’s curtain bangs had fallen in her face again, he and tucked it
behind her ear. “I love you fangirl,” he said softly. And then he kissed her,
his hand on her face. Lexi felt giddy and happy and felt her muscles go limp as
he kissed her. When he pulled away, Lexi started giggling like the fangirl she
was. Thaddeus was surprised.
“Why are you giggling?” he asked. Lexi
smiled at him.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I just have a really cute boyfriend who kisses me and calls me fangirl.” she said. Thaddeus’s eyes
widened. “What did you just call me?” he asked. Lexi’s eyes widened too.
Oh, shoot! I thought he was ready! I thought I was ready! Oh, you’re blowing this, you’re blowing this! She thought frantically.
“Um, I might have just called you my boyfriend but, then again, I might not have I mean that’s crazy and-" Thaddeus grabbed both of her hands and kissed her forehead and she quieted down.
“It has a nice ring to it,” he said and
smiled really big. Lexi laughed and smiled.
“I’m in love with you and I have been
ever since I was eleven!” she cried and then she kissed him. Once she pulled
away, they did the forehead touch. Finally Thaddeus thought. Then he put
his arm around her shoulders and she leaned her head against his shoulder and
Thaddeus felt as though his whole world was complete.
