Chapter 12, Tea to spill

Lexi and her mom were on their way home. Lexi asked her mom if she could be in charge of music. Even though they had gotten revenge Adam, she was still hurting from the breakup. First, she played the breakup song she always heard her sisters listen to when they had a tough breakup. It was Picture to Burn by Taylor Swift. Next, she played Bad Blood also by Taylor Swift. (The part where it says “Did you have to hit me where I’m weak, baby I couldn’t breathe, and rub it in so deep, salt in the wound like you’re laughing right at me”, Lexi related to on a spiritual level) and then she played Before he Cheats by Carrie Underwood. “So, Adam dumped me this afternoon,” Lexi sighed.

“Wait, what?!” her mom exclaimed. Lexi nodded.

“He was cheating on me too,” she explained.

“Woah what? Are you doing, okay?” she inquired.

“It still hurts a little, but I’m honestly doing, okay,” Lexi explained.

“But, how? 'Cause, when I had breakups, I was a mess,”

“Well, I was a mess. And then Thaddeus came and helped me through it and then went and humiliated Adam in front of half of the school,”

“Thaddeus Hawthorne? You mean Conner and James’s old friend who tried to destroy Auradon who’s also had a thing for you forever?” her mom asked. Lexi nodded and smiled.

“Yup! That’s him,” she said happily. Her mom nodded.

“So, I was right about Adam being a jerk and lying to you,” she reassured herself. Lexi nodded again.

“Yep, he’s a total jerk!” she giggled. her mom smiled at Lexi.

“So, Thaddeus huh?” she asked. Lexi nodded, smiling really big.

“You like him, don’t you?” she asked. Lexi nodded again and blushed.

“I have ever since I was eleven. I just didn’t realize it until today,” she explained.

“I like him too. He’s a good boy,” her mom remarked. Lexi was smiling still.

“When I told the girls what happened they seemed angry at Adam, happy we got revenge on Adam and disappointed about something,” Lexi explained. her mom chuckled.

“I think I know what they’re disappointed about,” she said in a sing-song voice. Lexi shrugged.

“What?” she asked.

“It sounds like they want Thaddeus to ask you out,” mom explained. Lexi gasped.

“What?” her mom asked. Lexi had just realized that when Thaddeus had said that he had had someone ditch him for someone else, he was talking about her. She also remembered that whenever she would talk about her and Adam’s relationship, Thaddeus had never looked actually happy. 

“You’re right. I think he wanted to do that too.” Lexi said quietly. She would have to make it up to Thaddeus in one way or another.

 

On the Monday after the breakup with Adam, Thaddeus was sure Lexi was still shattered, so on the way to school, they stopped at Walmart and he got her favorite flowers. Daises and lavender sprigs. He got to school only to find that everyone was already in their little corner and quickly hid the flowers behind his back. “What’s up fangirls?” he asked in friendly tone of voice. Lexi smiled at him. 

“Hi. There’s actually something I need to talk to you about.” Lexi told Thaddeus. Thaddeus complied and followed her into the hallway. 

“I, um know about the past year now,” she said. Thaddeus raised his eyebrows. 

“What?” he asked. Lexi nodded and hugged him.

“I’m so sorry,” she said softly. Thaddeus shrugged.

“No, you don’t have to be sorry. You liked someone else and that’s okay,” he told her.

“Well, in that case, I’m going to pose a question to you. Will you come to homecoming with me?” Thaddeus’s eyes widened in major level and his face broke into a big smile.

“Yes! I’d love to!” he said and they hugged.

“I was going to give these to you to cheer you up, but now it can be a celebration and cheering up thing,” he said, somewhat awkwardly as he gave her the flowers. Lexi smiled.

“Oh, my gosh,” she said softly and happily.

“How did you know these are my favorite?” she asked, still sounding very happy. Thaddeus gave her a smile. 

“Breanna told me,” he told her. Lexi giggled.

“She was my wingman.,” Thaddeus informed her. Lexi started laughing.

“Of course, she was,” Lexi giggled. Thaddeus laughed as well.

“Who else?” he laughed. Soon, they were walking back into the gym.

“Hey girls? Thaddeus and I are going to homecoming together!” she cheered. Literally, and I mean literally, they all jumped up and started squealing so loud that people started staring.

“Oh, finally, finally, finally!!!” Breanna squealed and she gave Lexi a hug.

“Did you guys all know about this?” Lexi asked. They all nodded and laughed.

“Bibiddi, bobiddi, you betcha!” (Fairy Godmother, Descendants 3) Gabrielle said with a light laugh. And then Gabrielle noticed something. “Hi, Oliver,” she said as she waved at a boy as he walked by. The fangirls (Minus Gabrielle,) and Thaddeus all exchanged glances. But they would tease Gabrielle about this later.
