Chapter 7, The real Yen Sid

On Saturday, the fangirls and Thaddeus went to Auradon to visit Yen Sid in the hospital to talk about things and well to say hello. They walked down to his hospital room and Yen Sid actually looked happy to see them and immediately apologized. To which they accepted. “So, how are you feeling? Also, you are my idol,” Thaddeus said to Yen Sid. Yen Sid nodded and chuckled.

“I’m feeling better. A mind control spell is hard to heal from.” Yen Sid replied, still kind of chuckling. Soon, they all started asking Yen Sid a lot of questions. “Please tell me you know what’s happening,” Breanna sighed. Yen Sid shook his head.

“I still don’t know. But I’ve been trying to figure it out,” Yen Sid said. “But I think it’s Hadie. I didn’t want to believe it when I had the thought but, he was the only one I trusted when I was under mind control,” everyone went silent when he said this. Even more silent than they already were because Yen Sid was talking.

“Why did you trust him?” Gabrielle asked.

“I just was getting this feeling. Like he was the only one in the room that could help me with evil things,” he explained. Like I said before, everyone was silent.

“This is not good,” Lexi said. Kaylee nodded in agreement.

“I hope I’m not the one who has to tell Mal.” Bridgett nodded and hugged her friend. After a little while, they had to leave. The fangirls all walked out and Thaddeus was about to walk out too, but, before he could, Yen Sid grabbed his hand. Thaddeus gasped.

“So, you are quite taken with that girl, aren’t you?” he asked, nodding toward Lexi. Thaddeus blushed.

“That’s silly,” Thaddeus said quietly, blushing even more. Yen Sid chuckled.

“No. I see the way you look at her. And the way you protected her at the meeting,” he said.

Thaddeus gave up trying to hide the fact that he did indeed like Lexi. “Okay, I like her,” he said to Yen Sid. Yen Sid gave a knowing chuckle.

“Yes indeed. What was her name again?” he asked. Thaddeus smiled at the thought.

“Alexa. But we call her Lexi for short,” and then he explained how they met. Yen Sid smiled.

“So, do you plan to court her and then to sweep her off her feet?” Yen Sid asked. Thaddeus laughed sadly.

“I wish,” Yen Sid raised his eyebrows questioningly.

“You wish?” he asked. Thaddeus nodded, his expression darkening. Then Thaddeus explained how he planned to ask her to the dance, and then Adam asked her first. Yen Sid smiled sympathetically, a pained expression in his eyes. “How long have you known her?” Yen Sid asked.

“For about six years.” Thaddeus told him. Yen Sid smiled at him.

“Who knows? She might change her mind about Adam,” Yen Sid said hopefully. Thaddeus smiled sadly.

“Thanks, but I doubt it. Good bye, it was nice meeting you.” Thaddeus said as he left the room. Yen Sid shouted after him.

“Good luck Thaddeus!”

Later, they all went to Mal and Ben’s castle to discuss what they talked about with Yen Sid. “So, what did you talk about with Yen Sid?” Ben asked. Lexi went really quiet all of the sudden. This was a tough subject she had to tell Mal. Thaddeus put an arm around her as she spoke.

“Um, well he had lots of helpful information. Including who could have had him under mind control and who’s plaguing Auradon,” Lexi said nervously. Mal’s eyes widened.

“Really? Who does he think it is?” Mal asked her. Lexi gritted her teeth.

“Um, okay don’t freak out but, he said that it might be Hadie,” Lexi said tentatively. Mal gasped and Ben put an arm around her.

“No, that can’t be right! That just can’t be right!” Mal exclaimed.

“I’m sorry, but Yen Sid said that when he was the only one he trusted when he was under mind control!” Lexi exclaimed. Mal sighed.

“Maybe we should just talk to him,” Mal said. They agreed that that is definitely what they should do.

Next Wednesday, they invited him down to the meeting. Soon, everyone was seated and they started discussing things. “So, Hadie, I’m not going to beat around the bush.” Mal was saying. “Did you have something to do with the mind control of Yen Sid?” Mal asked. Hadie’s eyes widened.

“No, no of course not!” he cried. Mal closed her eyes briefly and sighed before opening them again.

“Yen Sid said that when we was under mind control you were the only one in the room that he said he could trust! What happened?” Mal asked desperately. Hadie looked shocked.

“I swear I don’t have anything to do with it!” he exclaimed. Mal gritted her teeth.

“Then who did it?” Mal asked. Hadie now looked angry.

“I don’t know! I don’t even know why Yen Sid trusted me at all!” he exclaimed hotly, his face turning bright shade of brick red. Mal sighed.

“Okay, I believe you.” Mal sighed. “You can go.” Hadie ran out of the living room.

“How can you trust him?” Bridgett asked.

“Well, I don’t know. I just am getting this feeling that we can trust him.” Mal explained. Everyone nodded.

“Okay, then. I guess it’s not him. But still we should keep an eye out.” Ben said. Once again, everybody nodded. Ben always came up the right thing to say.

The next Monday, Lexi and her friends had just got of their last class which was P.E, where they had played volleyball and they saw Adam. “Hey Adam!” Lexi called to him. He smiled at her with his really bright smile.

“Hey!” he replied. Lexi smiled too.

“Do you want to hang out later?” Lexi asked brightly. Adam frowned suddenly.

“Oh, I can’t, I have to take care of my sister. My parents are going on a date.” he explained. Lexi frowned too.

“Oh, okay,” she said wistfully. Adam hugged her and went off. Just then, everyone’s phones went off. It was Ben talking on the group chat.

Come quick to Auradon! Mal and I’s castle is on fire and it’s destructing by the minute!

Thaddeus’s eyes widened. “Let’s go!” he exclaimed. They all ran outside to the parking lot and quickly created a portal and jumped inside. Soon, they were in Auradon and came to Mal and Ben’s castle which was a blaze.

“What happened?” Bridgett exclaimed. Ben shook his head.

“I don’t know! Mal and I were just having dinner with Evie and Doug and we came home and there was this!” he explained. Just then, they saw a mysterious hooded figure walking out of the burning castle.  Gabrielle ran ahead to where the figure was and took off his black hood. Gabrielle gasped as she who it was. It was Hadie. Ben ran forward and grabbed him by the arm. Mal gasped and came forward as well.

“Hadie? What are you doing?” Mal asked, her eyes wide with shock. Hadie cackled, which was really uncharacteristic, and then ran out into the setting sun.
