Chapter 9 of Fangirls, book two!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D

 

Chapter 9, Things get real

After the little indecent with the Camelot and Yen Sid and Hadie and all that, everyone agreed that they lock Yen Sid and Hadie up in the dungeon with Audrey. Yen Sid seemed totally confused but Hadie was not all confused, but evil when they locked them up. Everything was so confusing these days. But Christmas was coming and everyone agreed they should be cheerful, but alert. In fact, Mal’s baby bump was coming in and of course the fangirls were obsessing over that. Even Thaddeus was excited. Soon, the whole school was getting ready for winter break. But before that could happen, the school had the winter talent show. All the fangirls said that they should do something that combined all of their talents. Lexi’s was ballet dancing, Breanna’s was song writing, Kaylee’s was art, Bridgett’s was singing and Gabrielle’s was fashion designing. They agreed that Breanna would write a song and Gabrielle would design outfits. Then Breanna and Bridgett would sing the song and Lexi would teach Kaylee and Gabrielle to dance. Kaylee would make a backdrop for them. They offered to have Thaddeus join them but Thaddeus said he was going solo and he wouldn’t say what he was doing. They thought that was pretty strange, but they let him do what he wanted. So, the night of the talent show arrived and the fangirls did their thing. Breanna had written a song about friendship at Christmas and they sang and danced. The fangirl's parents and Thaddeus gave them a standing ovation. A couple talents after that, Thaddeus got up and Lexi heard a familiar tune start. It was "Cold December Night" by Michael Bublé. He had a remarkable singing voice and Lexi couldn’t help feeling some small butterflies in her stomach. And Lexi wasn’t sure but, she thought that Thaddeus’s eyes hadn’t left her direction the whole time he sang. But that was silly. He hadn’t had a crush on her since she moved away, right?

 

Soon, Christmas was over, (the fangirls and Thaddeus made the baby some onesies and made Mal and Ben a rocking chair in carpentry class) and Lexi’s sixteenth birthday had passed. Thaddeus’s birthday was back in October and he was seventeen now. And everyone else’s birthdays were soon to come. And there hadn’t been any attacks in long time, which was a good sign. But everyone still wished they could just figure it out. A few nights in a row, Mal had had the same nightmare again and again. Mal wasn’t sure what was happening and every time the dream came, it felt so real. They wanted figure out this dream thing and who was villain. But after Mal’s many nightmares, she had an idea on who it was, but she didn’t say anything, which let’s be honest, is stupid. But they’ll find out soon enough.

 

When Mal was six-months pregnant, her and Ben took a walk one day. It was very sunny day, without a cloud in the sky. They went on a little dirt path near the castle. “Ow,” Mal said, putting a hand on her swollen belly. Ben looked at her. 

“Are you okay?” Ben asked her. Mal nodded.

“Yeah, I think it’s just Braxton Hix contractions,” Mal replied.

“Let’s sit down,” Ben said. Mal nodded and they sat down a bench. Ben put his arm around her and kissed her forehead. Mal smiled and put her arm around him too. Everything was beautiful and happy and so nice today. Until it wasn’t. Out of nowhere, the skies darkened, just like in Mal’s nightmare. And they heard an evil laugh too. Mal turned back to Ben, very, very afraid. Ben was turning to dust, getting sucked up in the sky, and screaming. Mal screamed after him as he went up. 

“Mad Maddy, I know it’s you up there!” Mal screamed. Mad Maddy cackled.

“Finally, you got the dreams I’ve been sending” Mad Maddy sighed happily. Mal gasped.

“Your dreams?” she asked.

“Yes! How did you not figure it out yet? Just like last time,” Mad Maddy exclaimed. “You took everything away from me when you sealed off those catacombs! Now I’ll take something you love away!!” Mal gasped again as she had really painful contractions. 

“You won’t get away with this!” she exclaimed to the sky. 

“Oh, yeah? Look down.” Mal got scared because she knew what was going to happen. The dirt path was soaked in amnionic fluid. Mal sat down because was in so much pain. All of the sudden the sky was sunny again and Mad Maddy’s voice disappeared. Mal pulled out her phone as she started weeping. She dialed Evie’s phone number and she answered after a few rings. 

“Hello?” Evie asked. Mal was in mass hysteria.

“I need help! Ben just got captured by Mad Maddy! Please help me!” she cried. Evie sounded surprised.

“Are you okay? Where are you?” Evie asked. Mal told her where she was and Evie said she would be right there. 

“Wait, do think you could get Thaddeus and the girls here?” Mal asked.

“Yes of course!” she said sweetly. And then she hung up after that. Mal took deep breaths as the doctor had told her to do and waited for help to come.

 

The fangirls and Thaddeus were walking out their last class which was P.E, and were talking about what they learned about in all of their classes and homework they got, when their phones went off. All of them thinking this can’t be good, they looked at the text Evie just them.

 We need you to come to Auradon right now! Mal needs you for something!

“Oh, boy,” Breanna sighed. They dashed outside and created a portal. Soon they were in Auradon and hurrying to the meeting place, when something stopped them. They heard someone screaming in the forest and they ran to help, thinking it might be Mal. But once they got there, there wasn’t anybody there. And the skies darkened once again and Lexi felt terrified. 

“Th-Thaddeus, c-can you hold this?” Lexi asked him, sounding terrified and holding up her hand. Thaddeus raised his eyebrows even though he was just as frighted as she was and he was surprised at her request. 

“Um, that’s your hand,” he replied. Lexi raised her eyebrows too.

“Your point being?” she asked. Thaddeus nodded.

“Okay,” he said as he took her hand. Once he did, he no longer felt scared. In fact, he felt a rush of excitement. This was the first time he had ever held hands with a girl. And it wasn’t just any girl either, it was the girl of his dreams. And Lexi didn’t feel scared when she held hands with Thaddeus too. In fact, she really enjoyed it. Almost more than when she held hands with Adam. Just then, they saw four dark figures coming toward them. 

“Oh, no. What is that?” Lexi cried softly as the figures came closer.

“What?” Gabrielle asked. She didn’t even notice the figures because she was looking up at the sky. Lexi looked at her. 

“That’s what!” she said, pointing to the figures and then brushing her curtain bangs out of her eyes with her free hand. Thaddeus gripped her hand tighter.

“It’ll be okay,” he reassured her. Lexi smiled a little as butterflies filled her stomach again like they did at the winter talent show. As the figures came closer to them, Lexi recognized them based on how the book described them. It was Ginny Gothel, the Gastons, and Anthony Tremaine. 

“Wait, Lexi who are they?” Thaddeus asked her. Lexi broke into nervous laughter.

“Um, those would be Mad Maddy’s wharf rats. Run!” she exclaimed to all of them. And they did. They didn’t know where they were going, but they had to run away from the danger that faced them. Thaddeus and Lexi were still holding hands when they started running and that suited them both just fine. 

“Wait, like from the book?” Bridgett cried as they were dashing away. Lexi nodded. Kaylee looked confused.

“How can you tell?” she asked.

“The book described them that way!” she cried. Just then, Lexi tripped over a fallen branch of an old oak tree. Thaddeus let go of her hand as she fell. “Ouch!” she cried as she fell and twisted her right ankle. Thaddeus looked at her in alarm as he held out a hand to help her up. 

“Are you okay?” he cried as he helped her up. Lexi nodded, but as they started running again, Thaddeus noticed that she was limping. “Are you okay?” he inquired again. Lexi shook her head.

“No, I twisted my ankle and I can’t put weight on it!” she exclaimed. Without a word, Thaddeus scooped her up and put her on his back and the ran the rest of the way like that. 

"You're okay, just hold on tight," Thaddeus said to her as he gave her hand a small squeeze before dropping it back to his side. Breanna ran back a little to where Thaddeus and Lexi were running.

“Are you alright?” she asked Lexi.

“I just hurt my ankle. I’m okay,” she said, waving off Breanna’s concern. When Lexi wasn’t looking, she turned to Thaddeus and gave him two thumbs up and smiled at him teasingly. Thaddeus rolled his eyes. But they kept running. When at long last they actually looked behind them to see if the people were still chasing them, they weren’t. Thaddeus set Lexi down with the utmost care and set her against a tree. 

“Are you sure you’re, okay?” he asked her. Lexi nodded.

“Yes, but I think we’ll have get an x-ray when we get home,” she sighed. Thaddeus nodded. Just then, all of the wharf rats appeared out of nowhere. The fangirls and Thaddeus all screamed and Thaddeus crouched by Lexi to protect her. 

“What are doing?” Thaddeus shouted at them. One of the Gastons smiled menacingly. 

“Mad Maddy gave orders,” he explained.  “She’s been plaguing Auradon this whole time,” he said. All of his fellow wharf rats looked at him in shock and anger.

“Shut up!!” Ginny Gothel shrieked at the Gaston. But before anyone could say anymore, the fangirls and Thaddeus all started running again. Once they lost them, they met up with Evie. 

“What happened to you guys? Where have you been?” she inquired of them.

“Mad Maddy’s wharf rats were chasing us. It’s Mad Maddy who’s been doing everything,” Bridgett explained. Evie gasped and looked shocked. 

“We have to get to Mal! Let’s go!” she exclaimed. And they ran around to the dirt path. Mal was standing up right and looking at them in shock. Immediately they all started talking at once. “Mal it’s- Evie started to say, but Mal cut her off.

“Mad Maddy I know,” she said. “She put a spell on me to make think I was in labor and now she has Ben!”. Then Mal called Jay and he got there five minutes later. Then they set off to find Ben, as they did all those years ago. There were some changes though. They had Thaddeus now and he was all good. So, off to find Ben! Where ever he may be.
