Chapter 2 Thaddeus

Two weeks later everyone is still enjoying the school and that includes Lexi. Like Lexi Conner and James made some friends including a boy named Thaddeus. In Lexi's mind, Thaddeus was really weird. When she was first meeting him all he could do was stammer and blush. “Hi Conner hi James who is this?” Lexi asked them at lunch

“This is Thaddeus. Thaddeus this is Lexi our sister,” said Conner

“ Oh! That's your name. Hi Thaddeus,” said Lexi

“Um, h-h-h-h-h,” Thaddeus stammered

 “Are you always this articulate?” (Meg, Hercules) Lexi said jokingly

“h-h-h-hi L-Lexi,” Thaddeus stammered again

“Well, I am going to go eat .Bye, it was nice to meet you properly, Thaddeus,” said Lexi. For the rest of the day Thaddeus was pestering Lexi and following her and stealing her pen. That drove Lexi CRAZY. He stole her pen ten times. By the end of the day Lexi told him to stop pestering her and to go away. The next week he did it all again including stealing her pen. Lexi was FURIOUS. After school was done, everyone in the school was making blankets for homeless shelters and now that Conner and James with their class being done with their blanket, Conner and James wanted to talk to Thaddeus. 

“Mom, can we go talk to Thaddeus? We're done with our blanket,” James said

“Sure,” said mom

“Thanks” said Conner. They walked to where Thaddeus was.

“Hey Thadd, what are you reading?” James asked.

“Fifty ways to get a girl to like you,” Thaddeus replied, blushing slightly.

“Ooh who's the mystery crush?” James wondered. Thaddeus grinned and blushed even more.

“Your sister,” Thaddeus said, swooning at the thought.

“Cristy?” Conner asked.

“No,” Thaddeus said in disbelief.

“Lexi?” laughed James

“No, the mouse in your pocket. Yes, Lexi!” said Thaddeus

“Well, I was not expecting that because she is a year younger than you but, hey, crushes come!

 did you try to talk to her?” asked Conner.

“I did today but it didn't end well,” said Thaddeus, sounding a bit ashamed of himself

“Oh no what did you say?” James asked ,sounding worried.

“Well, I came up to her with all the courage I could muster

and I said:

“I'm cute and I like you, why don't you like me?”

and she said: “It takes a lot more than good looks to flatter me, playboy,”

then she did the sassy hair flip and walked away,” said Thaddeus.

“Okay, before we talk about that, I have to ask. What’s the sassy hair flip?” Conner inquired.

“It's this” said Thaddeus flipping his hair (the same hair flip Mal did when she turned away from Ben when he suggested art class. Movie one)

“Oh, we know where she picked that up," said Conner and James at the same time.

“I have no idea how to win her heart,” Thaddeus sighed sadly.

“Well why didn’t you come to us?” James asked.

“Because I was embarrassed and sort of afraid that you would make fun of me,” Thaddeus told them.

“We would never make fun of you but, let us help you now,” said Conner.

“Give me your wisdom and guidance!” Thaddeus exclaimed.

“Well, you have to be kind, and romantic, and, wait, have you seen Descendants?” asked James.

“Yeah, I’ve seen it. Why?” Thaddeus wondered.

“Well, if you like Descendants you might rise in her opinion and, be like the king from that movie,” said Conner.

“She has a crush on the beast?” Thaddeus asked.

“No, she has a crush on Ben,” Conner corrected.

“I thought he was a prince,” Thaddeus said, confused.

“He got coronated in the end of the movie everyone knows thi- Conner cut himself off

“I spend way too much with Lexi,” Conner sighed.

“Tell me about it. My little sister Hadlee watches frozen 24/7 and I know more about frozen then I care

to admit,” Thaddeus shuddered.

“Wait I just had an idea. Lexi’s having a slumber party tonight with her friends. Why don’t you come too and you can study Ben and see what she reacts too at the same time?” James suggested.

"How do you know what they’re going to be watching?” Thaddeus said confusedly.

“Um, no brainer they LOVE Descendants,” said James in disbelief

“Well, we will see you tonight,” said Conner “Bye!”

Conner and James walked back to mom.

“Hi Conner, Hi James,” said mom

“Hey Mom, can Thaddeus come over tonight?” asked Conner

“Sure, he can” said mom cheerfully. She’s always in a good mood when she’s serving.

But Conner and James where lucky that Lexi was not in earshot.

She would have gotten mad. Then, the Pipers got home.

And, a few hours later, the doorbell rang.

“Hi guys,” said Lexi.

“Time for dinner,” said mom.

And just as they were sitting down to eat, the doorbell rang again.

“I’ll get it!” called Cristy as she ran to the door to open it.

“Oh, hi Thaddeus,” said Cristy “Come on in,”.

Luckily, Lexi didn’t hear that either. After dinner, Breanna, Bridgett, and Gabrielle sat in the living room.

“I love this movie,” said Breanna.

“Me too,” said Lexi.

Then, Lexi noticed something.

“Wait, Conner James what are you doing down here?” Lexi asked “I thought you didn’t like Descendants,” Lexi said

 

“Oh, we don’t, but Thaddeus does,” said James. Actually, that was true.

 

“Thaddeus you like Descendants?” asked Lexi.

“Um, y-y-y-y-yeah,” said Thaddeus nervously.

“Okay, Conner, James can I talk to you for a second?” asked Lexi sounding annoyed.

“Um okay,” said James. Conner, James, and Lexi walked to the other room.

“Why, out of all of your friends did you pick him to come over?”

Conner scoffed. “Why do you have such a problem with it?”

“Because he has a crush on me!” Lexi cried as if it was the biggest deal in the world.

“And he pesters me like his life depends on it!” Lexi cried. “And I just don’t feel for him like that!”

“Okay look we will keep him in that chair,” said James gently.

“Thank you,” said Lexi. “And I really need to find a hiding place for my-

Lexi cut herself off and reached inside her pocket. “Where is my pen?”

“It’s right here” said James grabbing it out Thaddeus’s pocket.

“Thank you,” said Lexi. Lexi walked back to the living room.

James looked at Thaddeus in disappointment. “Dude, we told not to do that anymore. You’re not helping your case here,”

Thaddeus nodded. “Noted.” he said. Lexi walked over to where her friends were sitting on the couch and sighed in relief.

“Crisis averted.” Lexi said. Thaddeus looked like he might cry. James put his arm around him.

 “Hey relax” said James supportively. “You’ll do great”

“Okay thank you,” said Thaddeus. Not long after, the movie began. As soon as they saw Ben,

All of the girls swooned and Lexi said, “Hello gorgeous,” Thaddeus wrote in the note

pad he brought with him, “Be gorgeous” Thaddeus showed Conner and James

what he wrote. 

“You are so weird,” said Conner.

“What? Don’t judge me!” said Thaddeus defensively. All of the sudden, Gabrielle started to look

nervous. 

“Don’t say it Ben, don’t say it,” Gabrielle said nervously. Then Ben said Maleficent.

The thing they all hope he does not say because he caused an uproar with King Beast and

Queen Belle. (Well, he did more with Beast than with Belle). 

“And you said it,” said Gabrielle in disapproval. Lexi looked at the girls. 

“Hey guys, we should have the Descendants

Sing along of the century” said Lexi excitedly. The girls looked back at Lexi. 

“Yeah!”

The girls exclaimed. And they did. All through Rotten to the core and Evil like me and Did I

Mention. Thaddeus had a million Doller grin listening to Lexi sing. “Oh I love this part,” said Lexi

Fondly as they finished If only. “Now be quiet this is my favorite quote” so Lexi’s friends were

Quiet as they listened to Lexi’s favorite quote. 

“Mal, I told you that I loved you. What about you?

Do you love me?”. The boys were laughing because Lexi was mouthing the quote.

“I don’t really know what love feels like.”

“Maybe I can teach you,” All of the girls squealed very loudly.

“YES, teach me what that is! I would be very happy if you taught me what that is!” said Lexi through

her loud fangirl squeals. Thaddeus wrote in his notepad again. “Be romantic” He showed Conner

and James what he wrote.

 “See you practically have her begging to kiss you already,” Conner joked.

“Oh, I hope so,” said Thaddeus.

“Um that was a joke,” Conner said sounding a little concerned.

“Oh” said Thaddeus. Then he said under his breath, “Dang it!”

“I know I clearly don’t say this enough, but I love it when he’s romantic,” Lexi sighed happily.

Breanna looked at Lexi. “Yeah, you don’t say that enough” said Breanna jokingly.

Bridgett laughed. “This is so much fun!”. Before long, they got to the coronation

part. The part where Mal and Ben are the carriage. Of course, this is another one of Lexi’s favorite

parts for the obvious reason. James nudged Thaddeus “Hey you should probably pay attention

during this part,” whispered James. Thaddeus looked excited for another opportunity to impress

Lexi. “Oh, good idea!” said Thaddeus. He got out his notepad again. Ben and Mal were in the carriage.

“So, what you’ve just been faking it since then?” The girls started getting closer together on the couch and started silently squealing. Ben kissed Mal’s hand.

 “I haven’t been faking anything,”.

There was an uproar from both the girls and the boys. Lexi, Brianna, Bridgett, and Gabrielle jumped up and all around. The boys were laughing at them. “I love that quote!” Lexi squealed. Thaddeus wrote in his notepad again. “Kiss her hand”. He showed Conner and James what he wrote.

 “Dude! You are acing this quiz!” James said to him as they watched Lexi watch the VKs dance on the castle steps. 

“I hope I am!”

The next week at school, Thaddeus came wearing a suit and bringing a rose and unicorn necklace.

(That was another trait of Lexi. She loves unicorns). “Okay I’m going in,” said Thaddeus said, somewhat nervously. As soon as he was out of earshot, James whispered in Conner’s ear. 

“Operation Laddeus is a go”. Lexi was over in corner of the gym where her friends and her usually sit. Thaddeus tapped her on the shoulder and cleared his throat. 

“Wow, you look fancy,” she said.

“Thank you,” said Thaddeus, managing not to stutter. Then he bent down and kissed her hand and then gave her the rose and unicorn necklace.

“You look beautiful today,” he said sweetly. Lexi blushed red as the rose as everything made sense.

“Okay I see what you’re doing and I’m very flattered. We can be friends, but nothing else,”

She said. After she walked away, Conner and James walked over to Thaddeus. “So how did it go?” Conner asked. Thaddeus frowned. 

“She said we’re just friends” Conner raised his eyebrows.

“You’re too young to be in a relationship” he said. Thaddeus smiled.

“Oh right!” he said. They high fived each other because Operation Laddeus was a success.
